Sources: Man Utd officially put big-money flop up for sale as Ten Hag frustrations reach boiling point

Anthony Martial and Harry Maguire at Man Utd

Manchester United are prepared to listen to offers for Anthony Martial this summer as they plan to bring in a new marquee striker, TEAMtalk understands.

Martial became the most expensive teenager of all time in September 2015 when Man Utd paid Monaco an initial £36million to sign him. However, the deal had the potential to be worth £58m depending on add-ons.

The forward arrived at Old Trafford with big expectations after shining in France with Monaco. Despite some brief flashes of brilliance in a Man Utd shirt, Martial has not lived up to those expectations as a result of both injuries and poor form.

He has failed to win over his doubters within the Red Devils faithful, while Erik ten Hag has also been left unimpressed by him.

Martial’s injury problems have restricted him to 25 matches in all competitions so far this season with the attacker scoring seven goals and providing three assists in those outings.

TEAMtalk has been told Man Utd are willing to offload Martial when the transfer window opens as the Frenchman is set to enter the final year of his contract this summer and the club do not want to risk losing him for nothing in 2024.

Man Utd’s priority in the transfer window is to bring in a proven striker to score a regular supply of goals as they look to continue their improvement under Ten Hag.

Man Utd have been linked with Tottenham and England ace Harry Kane and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen this summer and in order to raise funds for their potential transfers they are ready to cash-in on Martial.

Anthony Martial in line to be sold

Any new striker arrival this summer will push Martial further down the pecking order and TEAMtalk understands the club feel the time is right to now sell him.

The 27-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at La Liga club Sevilla. However, it is unlikely they will come back in for him this summer as he only managed one goal in 12 outings during his time in Spain.

Martial is far from the only player who may be offloaded by Ten Hag ahead of next season. The likes of Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire, Anthony Elanga and Brandon Williams are also facing uncertain futures at Man Utd.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag has reportedly identified his ideal replacement for a fading Man Utd stalwart.
