Fabrizio Romano reveals Marcus Rashford thoughts on signing ‘crazy’ Man Utd contract, with fresh talks scheduled

Marcus Rashford of Man Utd

Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest information on Marcus Rashford potentially signing a new contract at Manchester United, amid the forward’s astonishing form.

Rashford is enjoying the best season of his career, having registered 27 goals and 10 assists in 47 appearances. And he is highly likely to surpass the 30-goal mark for the first time as Man Utd still have games in the Premier League, Europa League and FA Cup to play.

Before Erik ten Hag managed to get the versatile attacker back to his goalscoring best, there were rumours he might leave Man Utd. Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are big fans of his and were given hope about completing a deal due to his contract situation.

Rashford’s current terms expire in June 2024, meaning there is the possibility of him leaving Old Trafford for a reduced price this summer.

However, the Red Devils are desperate to keep their star man and are trying to tie him down to a new contract.

On March 23, The Sun claimed Rashford to be ‘stalling’ talks over a new deal. They reported that he wants to earn more than the £300,000-a-week salary cap Man Utd are trying to introduce.

There were then suggestions Rashford was even holding out for an incredible £500,000 per week. The player himself soon came out and said that those rumours were ‘complete nonsense’.

Romano has now revealed that the 25-year-old ‘was not happy’ with the reports about his ‘crazy’ salary demands.

Marcus Rashford loving life under Ten Hag

Rashford ‘is really happy’ with how Ten Hag’s project at Man Utd is going and ‘feels success is around the corner’.

Romano adds that new discussions between Man Utd and Rashford’s camp will take place ‘soon’, with Rashford ‘loving’ working under Ten Hag.

This update suggests that Rashford will be completely fine with his weekly wage being capped at £300k. He does not want to play for another club right now as he believes Man Utd are on their way back to the summit of English football. Due to this, he is likely to pen a new long-term deal with the club.

Rashford is not the only player Man Utd have been in negotiations with recently. Luke Shaw signed a new contract on April 4 which is designed to keep him in Manchester until June 2027.

Ten Hag will also be hoping the club can agree fresh terms with David de Gea, Diogo Dalot and Alejandro Garnacho. De Gea’s current deal expires this summer, while Dalot and Garnacho are among the players with contracts expiring in 2024.

Meanwhile, Man Utd scouts have told Ten Hag he must sign an impressive Arsenal-linked midfielder, according to a report.
