Fourth Man Utd signing falls into Ten Hag’s lap, with major star ‘ready to be sold’
The next major arrival at Old Trafford is ‘ready to be sold’ and favours Man Utd over a rival suitor, and a deal looks straightforward once the ‘right offer’ is lodged, per reports.
The Red Devils could sign as many as six new first-team stars this summer. Andre Onana and Mason Mount will soon be joined by Rasmus Hojlund. The Denmark international is the subject of a bid totalling £72m that’s been accepted by Atalanta.
Hojlund will soon undergo a medical ahead of signing a five-year contract with a club option for a sixth. However, the 20-year-old will by no means be United’s final summer signing.
The Daily Mail recently reported United have already begun contacting agents over moves for a back-up goalkeeper, a depth option at centre-half and a high profile holding midfielder.
Regarding the latter, Southampton’s Romeo Lavia was cited as being on United’s radar. However, with the Belgian having already agreed personal terms with Liverpool, it’s Sofyan Amrabat who is far likely to join Man Utd.
The 26-year-old Moroccan plies his trade at club level for Fiorentina and per three updates, a deal is there for the making.
Firstly, Sport Witness reported Amrabat prefers a move to Man Utd over fellow suitor Al Ahli. The Saudi Arabian side will be able to offer more lucrative personal terms, though it’s the Red Devils who Amrabat favours.
Secondly, Italian outlet Firenze Viola – who specialise in all things Fiorentina – state Amrabat is simply waiting for Man Utd to table a concrete bid.
Once the right offer – reportedly of no less than €25m (approx. £21.5m) – is bid, Fiorentina will accept and Amrabat’s move will quickly ramp up.
A second update from the same publication states developments on that front are expected shortly. Amrabat is labelled ‘ready to be sold’ and there’s been prior suggestions from Italy that personal terms are already agreed.
Fabrizio Romano has repeatedly named Amrabat as Man Utd’s top target for the holding midfield position. However, the transfer guru has insisted Man Utd must sell a player or two before they can act for Amrabat.
On that front, Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek are all on the chopping block.
Fred is wanted by Fulham and Galatasaray as well as clubs in Saudi Arabia. Elsewhere, Real Sociedad have eyed Van de Beek as a replacement for the recently retired David Silva.
McTominay was courted by West Ham, though Sky Sports suggested Man Utd have priced the Hammers out of a move.
