Gary Neville claims Man Utd ‘even worse’ with ‘terrible’ duo; fires brutal jibe at Glazers and Woodward

Gary Neville insisted that Manchester United looked worse following their second-half substitutes in the defeat to Manchester City.
City ran out 4-1 winners at the Etihad Stadium to complete a league double over their derby rivals for the first time since the 2018/19 campaign. Indeed, United came into the match with a decent record against City.
They had themselves won both league clashes in the 2019/20 campaign. On Sunday, though, Pep Guardiola outclassed his managerial counterpart Ralf Rangnick.
Kevin de Bruyne opened the scoring before Jadon Sancho equalised for United with a goal against his former club. But City stepped it up a gear and after De Bruyne made it 2-1 before the break, a Riyad Mahrez double capped the win.
City were dominant in more aspects than just the scoreline. After City’s third goal, they had 92 per cent possession, a statistic Neville labelled “unforgivable” for United.
Before Mahrez’s first goal, Man Utd interim boss Ralf Rangnick made two substitutions. He brought on Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard for Paul Pogba and Anthony Elanga. But speaking to Sky Sports, Neville insisted that the changes made his former side worse.
The pundit said: “I thought they were better with Pogba and [Bruno] Fernandes up front than they were when Rashford came on. I thought they were even worse when Rashford and Lingard came on.
“I thought they were terrible.”

Neville added that the performance was a reflection of the problems behind the scenes at Old Trafford. Former executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward faced criticism for his management and has now stepped aside.
New chief executive Richard Arnold has stepped in to replace him. Arnold will subsequently continue working with Man Utd’s owners, the Glazer family.
Reacting to a tweet showing City’s 92 per cent possession, Neville wrote: “Still can’t get my head around that! However, City aren’t just better on the pitch.
“A new dawn for United with Richard Arnold as CEO and a new manager incoming, but yesterday was a fitting memorial to the ‘Ed Woodward/Glazer’ last 10 years of mismanagement.”
Man Utd crunch time after Gary Neville criticism
Defeat to City means United dropped to fifth, with Arsenal moving above them in the race for a top-four Premier League finish.
Indeed, the Gunners beat Watford 3-2 in a thriller elsewhere on Sunday. Furthermore, they still have three games in hand on United to potentially cement their place.
Two of those are against Liverpool and Tottenham and will prove crucial in their push to finish fourth.
Man Utd still have to play Liverpool away, while they also face Tottenham next Saturday. As a result, United cannot afford to slip up any more if they are to finish in the Champions League places.
Meanwhile, United face Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League last 16 tie next Tuesday.
