Man Utd receive three transfer approaches as Erik ten Hag sanctions Hannibal Mejbri move

Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri

Erik ten Hag will allow Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri to go out on loan this season and three teams have made offers for him, according to a report.

Hannibal spent time in the Paris FC and Monaco academies before joining Manchester United U18s three years ago. The central midfielder has since been promoted to the Red Devils’ U21 side.

He has made three appearances for the Manchester United senior team so far, with two of those coming in the Premier League last season.

Hannibal came off the bench in the dismal 4-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield. Gary Neville gave the 19-year-old praise, thanking him for showing some fight towards the end of the match. The same could not be said for most of his United team-mates.

Hannibal also featured in Ralf Rangnick’s final game as interim United boss. He managed 62 minutes at Old Trafford, though that match also ended in a loss for the Manchester club.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag has made a decision on the Tunisia international’s immediate future. He is free to leave on loan for the 2022-23 campaign to pick up more senior experience.

United have since put Hannibal on the loan market and three teams have come forward with initial proposals.

The MEN state all of those clubs are from the Championship. However, they have not yet been named.

Hannibal Mejbri loan switch could soon go through

One side in particular is pushing to get the deal over the line. Due to this, Hannibal could leave the Red Devils in the next few days.

Hannibal must accept that he is not yet ready to make it into the United midfield, even if the area regularly comes in for criticism from pundits.

Ten Hag can already use Scott McTominay, Fred, Donny van de Beek and James Garner in the centre of the pitch. And with United pushing to sign Adrien Rabiot too, there will be little room for Hannibal in the senior squad.

Going out on loan will give Hannibal the chance to get used to first-team football and also improve his physicality. Plenty of Premier League youngsters go to the Championship and return a season later as much tougher players.

The Tunisian has only made three senior appearances for the Red Devils since joining from Monaco in 2019.

Just look at Liverpool starlet Harvey Elliott. He went to Blackburn Rovers for a campaign and did exceptionally well. Now the teenager is pushing for a starting spot under Jurgen Klopp.

It will be intriguing to see which Championship club ends up signing Hannibal before the transfer window closes. Wherever he goes, Ten Hag will be hoping the player returns with more confidence.

Meanwhile, Sky Sports have given an update on Paris Saint-Germain’s shock pursuit of Marcus Rashford.
