Fabrizio Romano reveals Man Utd have been ‘offered’ experienced Napoli star who wants Prem move

Hirving Lozano celebrates with Giovanni Di Lorenzo

Fabrizio Romano claims Manchester United have been given the chance to sign Napoli winger Hirving Lozano, who is seemingly looking to take the next step away from Italy.

Lozano spent time at Pachuca in his native Mexico and then Dutch side PSV before joining Napoli in August 2019. As per transfermarkt, they spent £40.5million to sign the player from PSV.

Lozano has gone on to make 124 appearances for Napoli in all competitions, notching 27 goals and 14 assists. Eight of those appearances have come this season, during which Lozano has registered a since goal against Cremonese, last time out.

The wide man, who can play out on the left or right, appears settled in Napoli. However, there is definitely the possibility of him moving to the Premier League in the near future.

Over the weekend, Lozano’s former agent revealed the star’s desire to join a ‘top English club’, with Manchester United even mentioned.

Here is what former representative Alessandro Monfrecol had to say, during an interview with Italian outlet Gonfia la Rete.

“Next June, Lozano will leave in my opinion, also because he earns over €4m at Napoli,” Monfrecol revealed.

“Although he is delighted to be here, he has never hidden that he aspired to the top English clubs. However, now he is probably realising that Napoli itself is a top club.

“He has never hidden that he loves Barcelona and Real Madrid, but unless Carlo Ancelotti falls in love with him again, he has no market.”

Hirving Lozano to Man Utd predicted

Monfrecol continued: “I think he could land in Manchester United or Everton. This does not exclude that other English teams could enter the negotiation. My personal prediction is that he will leave in June, but he is very happy here.”

Clearly Man Utd are on Lozano’s radar as he looks for a potential new club. And Romano has now given his information on the Mexico international’s possible switch to Old Trafford.

In an interview with CaughtOffside, Romano stated Man Utd had been ‘offered’ the chance to snare Lozano.

The Red Devils have never actually make a bid for the 27-year-old, which shows they are yet to land on him as a prime transfer target. Although, this could happen in the future as Lozano’s price tag is surprisingly low.

“I’m told Hirving Lozano was offered to Manchester United, nothing else. They never made any bid to Napoli,” Romano said.

“The situation is really quiet, he’s happy at Napoli now; I think his price tag could be around €20-25m (£17.5m-21.9m).”

Lozano would bring plenty of experience to Man Utd. He has won the Eredivisie title with PSV and the Coppa Italia with Napoli, while also making 59 appearances in the Mexico national team.

Red Devils might pursue other targets, despite Romano reveal

However, there is also reason to suggest Man Utd don’t actually need Lozano adding to their squad. After all, Erik ten Hag currently has strong options in wide attacking areas.

Antony is his marquee signing and the Brazilian looks set to nail down the right wing position. Jadon Sancho has operated on the left this season.

But with the Englishman struggling for form, Ten Hag could bring in one of several options to replace him. They include Marcus Rashford, Anthony Elanga and Alejandro Garnacho.

Anthony Martial is also in the squad, although he is recovering from an injury following the recent win over Everton.

While capturing Lozano would give Ten Hag another player to use on the wing, they could probably spend the money better by improving another position.

One area for improvement is central midfield and with this in mind there has recently been an update on Jude Bellingham, amid his links with Man Utd and Liverpool.
