Imminent deal to give Man Utd real chance of snatching Spain international at Real Madrid and Barcelona’s expense

Spain internationals Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo

A respected BILD journalist reckons an imminent deal will be “good news” for Man Utd who’ll soon have a chance to sign a Spain international at Barcelona and Real Madrid’s expense.

Following the loan signing of Wout Weghorst and Jadon Sancho’s reintegration into the first-team, Erik ten Hag now has an embarrassment of riches in the final third.

That could be the catalyst behind Anthony Elanga’s potential exit, with PSV Eindhoven plotting a late-window loan move.

However, Ten Hag remains reluctant to let anyone leave the club this month. With United still going strong in four competitions, the Dutchman is hesitant to weaken his depth.

But despite United’s vast array of attacking talent, at least one new attacker is expected to be signed over the summer.

A high profile striker signing is on the cards – even if Weghorst impresses enough to earn a permanent move, as one Sky Sports reporter suggested he might.

Elsewhere, United have been linked with RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo. The 24-year-old Spaniard can play on either flank or in the No 10 role and would add another dimension to Ten Hag’s attack.

Olmo was heavily linked with a United move at the beginning of the window and reports out of Spain even went as far as to claim a bid had been tabled.

Now, BILD’s Christian Falk has weighed in on the chances of Olmo moving to Old Trafford in either the current or a future window.

Leipzig extension will tee up future sale?

Falk categorically stated there’s “no chance” of a move this month. That should come as no surprise given United’s restricted transfer budget has been well-documented.

However, Olmo is apparently on the cusp of penning fresh terms in Leipzig that will then pave the way for an exit down the line. His current deal expires in the summer of 2024.

Talks over Olmo’s new contract are described as being “far along” and the deal could contain a release clause that’ll let Man Utd know where they stand.

Falk reiterated Olmo’s desire is to return to Spain, presumably with Real Madrid or Barcelona. However, the latter continue to be in financial crisis and if Real don’t show interest, the door will be ajar for United to strike.

“No chance of a January transfer for Dani Olmo,” wrote Falk. “We heard that talks with Olmo for a new contract are far along, so it seems he will extend his stay with RB Leipzig.

“The good news for interested clubs like Manchester United is that Olmo has a clear wish to move to the Spanish top-flight, so he’s going to get two different release clauses in his contract – they haven’t been signed yet but we think they’ll be added.

“One that allows clubs to sign him for €70-75m but another where, if Barcelona or Real Madrid are knocking on his door, he can leave for €60m.

“I think, if United are still interested, they’ve got a chance there.”

If Falk’s prediction comes true and the Spanish sides can sign Olmo for less than United, Leipzig would actually benefit more by selling the player to United.

The 29-times capped Spain international has four goals and six assists to his name for Leipzig this season.
