Man Utd and Arsenal alerted to ‘very affordable’ release clause of deadly midfielder following Fabrizio Romano confirmation

Atletico Madrid star Pablo Barrios and Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga

Two Spanish agents have revealed the size of a Man Utd, Arsenal and Newcastle-linked star’s release clause, while Fabrizio Romano has weighed in on the LaLiga stand-out’s future.

Both Arsenal and Newcastle are understood to be hunting midfield recruits come the summer. The Gunners’ primary target is believed to be West Ham’s Declan Rice. However, today’s Transfer Gossip revealed that not only are Man City and Chelsea in the mix, but Man Utd plan to ‘blow Arsenal out of the water’ too.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are in desperate need of greater strength in depth ahead of a potential European campaign next season.

Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher is a player the Magpies targeted in January and the Mirror recently namechecked the energetic midfielder as one of three homegrown Blues stars set to depart at season’s end.

Arsenal and Newcastle are also both known to be firm admirers of Celta Vigo’s newest star, Gabri Veiga. Manchester United too have been namechecked by Spanish outlet AS.

The 20-year-old has established himself as a regular starter in Celta’s strongest eleven this season. Veiga plays primarily in an attacking midfield role, though can play deeper if required.

His attacking prowess has been on full display this term with eight goals and three assists notched in just 22 LaLiga outings. Veiga remarkably bagged a brace and provided an assist last time out in a 3-0 victory over Real Valladolid.

AS previously reported Celta could be willing to cash in over the summer if a bid of around £31m (€35m) were tabled.

However, given Veiga’s incredible form – especially as the season is progressing – logic would dictate their demands will soon soar.

But per Spanish agents Fran Villa and Iago Bouzon, Celta will not be able to command a truly sky high fee thanks to the presence of a release clause.

Gabri Veiga price capped at £35m

Speaking to Spanish outlet Faro de Vigo, Bouzon said (via Sport Witness): “The player’s price is the one set by the clause.

“If Celta does not want to negotiate his sale, a club can pay the €40m (approx. £35m) and take Veiga without negotiating, depositing the money in LaLiga.”

Veiga’s contract with Celta doesn’t expire until 2026. However, the roughly £35m release clause ensures they can be bypassed by any suitor willing to stump up the cash. Faro de Vigo deem the £35m clause ‘very affordable’ for the cash-rich Premier League  clubs.

Whether any of the English sides pounce remains to be seen. Indeed, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano recently confirmed Veiga is being scouted by multiple top clubs, though urged caution nonetheless.

Writing for CaughtOffside, he said: “Some Arsenal fans have asked me about links with Celta Vigo youngster Gabri Veiga.

“However, I think it’s way too early before linking him with big clubs like this.

“I’m told four or five top clubs scouts are monitoring him as Veiga is a top talent and he’s doing great in LaLiga, but it’s something for the future, not present.”

Veiga’s performances between now and the end of the season will likely dictate whether any suitors act on their interest.

If Spanish agent Fran Villa is anything to go by, Veiga’s displays are only likely to go one way.

“He is standing out above expectations and he has room for much more, he is going to get better,” Villa explained.

“The best Gabri Veiga is yet to be seen.”
