Man Utd can secure unbelievable bargain for Serie A star with Liverpool left red-faced; £30m bid required

Paulo Dybala and Federico Chiesa of Juventus

Manchester United have been offered a golden opportunity to sign Juventus winger Federico Chiesa this summer, according to reports.

The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old in the past. But, a serious injury significantly stunted his progress.

Now, it remains to be seen whether any team will take a punt on Chiesa, who is reportedly keen to leave Juventus.

As previously reported by TEAMtalk, Man Utd have been linked with the Italy international for some time. Interestingly, Liverpool have also registered an interest in Chiesa in the past.

But, with Jurgen Klopp currently focusing on rebuilding his midfield, it seems unlikely he will make a move for Chiesa this summer.

The winger has barely been used by Juve this season. So, it would be a risk for Man Utd to spend a big transfer fee on him.

Chiesa made 21 Serie A appearances this term, scoring two goals and making five assists. As mentioned, his season was significantly disrupted by an ACL injury, which ruled him out for the first half of the campaign.

Then, after he recovered, he started just six league games. This will no doubt be a concern for Man Utd. But, Chiesa has showed his quality in the past, so he could be worth taking a punt on.

Man Utd learn affordable Chiesa fee

According to Italian outlet Corriere dello SportChiesa could make a surprise switch to Man Utd this summer.

The report claims that the Italian has ‘decided to look around’ for a new club and ‘is waiting for the right offer.’

The so-called ‘offer’ is ‘expected to come from abroad,’ with Man Utd being one of the clubs who have ‘long been reported’ as seeing him as a ‘highly esteemed player’.

What may catch Erik ten Hag’s attention, though, is Chiesa’s surprisingly cheap price tag. Indeed, Juventus will reportedly consider bids in the region of ‘€35m (approx. £30m) for his services.

The worry, though, is that his ACL injury could come back. So, Ten Hag has a difficult decision to make.

Man Utd are expected to make several additions this summer, with the manager looking to challenge for major trophies again next term.

Interestingly, Chiesa isn’t the only high-profile Serie A star on the Red Devil’s radar. For example, Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has emerged as a potential target.

Also, Man Utd are ‘close’ to agreeing terms with Napoli centre-back Kim Min-jae.

With that in mind, it will be interesting to see if Ten Hag does take a punt on Chiesa. For a fee of £30m, he may be worth the risk.
