Man Utd get serious over record-breaking transfer of France striker, as PSG contact and priority plan are confirmed

Man Utd are ‘very interested’ in signing a France striker who’d require a new club record, and a French journalist has revealed how PSG are making the move easier for the Red Devils.

It’s no secret Man Utd’s primary focus this summer is signing a top class centre-forward. Wout Weghorst has struggled to find the net with regularity, while Anthony Martial has reportedly been put up for sale.

Victor Osimhen and Harry Kane are believed to be front and centre in United’s sights. However, Napoli’s Osimhen is attracting heavyweight interest from continental Europe too.

Indeed, RMC Sport report PSG have installed the Nigerian hitman as their ‘priority’ target. It’s believed club chief Luis Campos is the main driver of the interest.

However, as all clubs must, PSG are keeping their options open and it’s claimed they’ve made ‘first contacts’ with the camp of Frankfurt hotshot, Randal Kolo Muani.

The French striker, 24, is a back-up option at Man Utd too in the event Kane and Osimhen elude Erik ten Hag. Others in that same category include Goncalo Ramos, Mohammed Kudus and Rasmus Hojlund.

Kolo Muani has been in irresistible form this term, notching 20 goals and 14 assists in 40 matches at club level. He’s also become a key figure for Didier Deschamps’ France side and scored in their 2-0 semi-final victory over Morocco at the World Cup.

RMC Sport state PSG have opened dialogue with Kolo Muani’s camp, though the player is in no rush to sign on the dotted line thanks to other interest, most notably from Bayern Munich and Man Utd.

The piece’s author, Fabrice Hawkins, then took to Twitter to provide a follow-up on the story.

Hawkins tweeted both Bayern and Man Utd are “very interested” in Kolo Muani who’ll cost a cool €100m (approx. £88m) to sign.

A figure of that size will net Frankfurt a new club record by a sizeable margin. Their current record sale is the €60m they received when selling Luka Jovic to Real Madrid in 2019.

PSG and Man Utd are both clearly prioritising Osimhen over Kolo Muani. However, if the Napoli ace elects to join the Parisians, the door will be ajar for Man Utd to sign Kolo Muani.

Given Hawkins stated Man Utd are “very interested” in the Frenchman, it stands to reason they wouldn’t be overly fussed at missing out on Osimhen and settling for Kolo Muani.
