Man Utd ‘in a rush’ to sign ‘atomic’ attacker with Ten Hag seeing blockbuster transfer pushing Rashford to new heights

Erik ten Hag is reportedly pushing Manchester United towards what could prove a blockbuster attacking transfer that he seemingly sees as taking his side on to the next level.
The Red Devils are making obvious progress under the Dutchman’s leadership. And having won their first piece of silverware in six years, United are still hoping to add to their haul this summer.
Indeed, the strides they have made have certainly raised expectations at Old Trafford. The Red Devils also look on course to finish third in the Premier League this season too, securing with that a return to the Champions League.
As a result, plans are being drawn up for what many hope will be another blockbuster summer at Old Trafford. The Dutchman was allowed to lavish some £216m in his first pre-season with United. And while claims have been made that one of those signings is a costly mistake, it is hard to argue against Ten Hag’s transfer business.
Now United hope that more backing for the manager in the summer window will lead to further improvements.
Ten Hag will again be granted a hefty transfer budget and is seemingly targeting three elite signings. Indeed, he wants to sign a new striker, a midfielder and a right-back.
However, he could generate additional funds by offloading a number of unwanted stars. To that end, there will likely be a firesale at United with several out-of-favour stars shown the door.
Ten Hag’s chase for a new striker is certainly generating plenty of interest. As a result, the likes of Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen and Goncalo Ramos are regularly suggested as targets.
Ten Hag wants Rafael Leao at Man Utd
Now it seems the United boss is ready to make something of a surprise swoop, if reports in Italy are right.
And according to Pianeta Milan, United are ready to go all out to seal the signing of Rafael Leao.
The Portuguese forward has earned a reputation as one of Serie A’s elite stars. With 18 goal involvements (nine goals and nine assists) from 33 games this season, it is easy to see why Leao is a player in demand.
Indeed, he was the subject of a series of approaches from Chelsea last summer.
But with his deal due to expire in summer 2024, Milan are trying to tie Leao to a new deal. So far, though, those talks have proven unsuccessful. And if a new agreement cannot be reached before the summer, Milan will have little choice but to cash in.
As a result, the report claims Ten Hag is looking to take advantage and is ‘ready to rush’ to get Leao to Old Trafford.
Seeing him as a perfect foil for Marcus Rashford, the article claims the two stars can form a ‘fast and atomic’ attack for United.
The article claims that, despite potentially falling into the final year of his deal, Milan will try and claim as near to his exit clause as possible. That is currently set at £132.5m (€150m) – and they state the Serie A giants will not want to deviate too far from that price.
That’s because his former side Lille are currently due 20% of any sale of the 23-year-old star.
However, the report does claim that Milan will put Leao up for sale if no agreement on an extension is reached.
