Man Utd put on red alert as Bayern Munich step up interest in cut-price target who could solve key problem

Manchester United have been made aware of Bayern Munich stepping up their interest in forward target Marcus Thuram.
It’s no secret that Man Utd are in need of another forward in the January transfer window. Erik ten Hag’s side are looking particularly light in the final third as things stand.
United’s forward options currently consist of just Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.
While Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t Ten Hag’s first choice, he did offer United a different dynamic in the final third which they are now lacking.
Ten Hag’s side have only scored 20 goals in the Premier League so far at an average of just 1.42 goals per game. They are currently projected to score just 54 goals this season.
Chelsea are the only side in the top half of the Premier League who have scored fewer goals than United up until this point.
The 25-year-old has been in fine form this season and has scored 10 goals in 15 Bundesliga appearances.
Several clubs are said to be chasing his signature as he will become a free agent at this summer.
It has been suggested that the French forward could be available for as little as £10m when the January transfer window opens due to his contract situation.
Thuram is on course to have his most prolific season yet and has attracted interest from all around Europe.
Bayern Munich are interested
Reports have claimed that German champions Bayern Munich are stepping up their interest in Thuram. Bayern are yet to replace Robert Lewandowski, who left the club last summer.
In fairness, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has done a fine job in stepping up into the role so far. However, they are still in need of more firepower.
Choupo-Moting has had a season to remember, scoring 11 goals across 16 appearances so far.
L’Équipe have reported that Bayern are now stepping up their interest in Thuram.
The report claims that Bayern have established contact with the French forward and are keen on bringing him to the Allianz Arena. It is also believed that Inter Milan and Aston Villa are also considering a move for him.
Bayern have a long-standing history when it comes to poaching fellow Bundesliga stars from other clubs. The German champions currently top the Bundesliga and are four points clear of Freiburg as things stand.
Thuram could further boost his profile if he is able to have an eye-catching World Cup with France. He has been utilised as a second-half substitute in two matches so far.
The German outfit will be particularly keen to add to their firepower with an upcoming game against PSG to look forward to.
Julian Nagelsmann’s side will face PSG in the Champions League in what looks like a blockbuster tie.
Thuram would be a savvy purchase for any side currently considering him as he is available on a cut-price deal.
