Man Utd readying bumper deal worth 10x frightening star’s salary to thwart Real Madrid, Barcelona

Man Utd are prepared to reward a stand-out star with a new deal worth 10 times his current salary, much to Real Madrid and Barcelona’s dismay, per a report.
A story was lost during and after the fall-out of Cristiano Ronaldo’s bombshell interview with TalkTV. The Portuguese icon took a flamethrower to the club who pays his £500,000-a-week wages and ensured he and he alone was the sole talking point on a weekend that ended well for Manchester United.
Snippets of Ronaldo’s interview with Piers Morgan began to leak into the media last Sunday night mere hours after United’s last-gasp victory over Fulham.
Many believe Ronaldo was part of orchestrating the timing of those leaks in order to generate maximum attention at a time when domestic football had given way to World Cup preparation.
Ronaldo’s comments duly took centre stage, relegating Alejandro Garnacho’s 93rd minute winner to the background.
Senior members of United’s squad were reportedly left furious at the timing of Ronaldo’s outburst.
In their minds at least, 18-year-old Garnacho deserved to bask in the glory of his match-deciding moment for more than just a couple of hours.
The tricky winger has burst onto the scene this year and has already notched his first goals in both the Premier League and Europe.
His current deal expires at season’s end, something the Daily Star report was rousing the attention of Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The connection there is an obvious one given Garnacho was born in Spain. He represents Argentina at international level through heritage on his mother’s side, though the connection to Spain is present nonetheless.
Man Utd nearing Garnacho contract breakthrough
However, per the Star, United will swiftly move to tie Garnacho down to fresh terms. What’s more, the youngster is in line for an eye-watering pay increase.
Garnacho currently pockets around £5,000-a-week, though will reportedly see that increase tenfold to £50,000-a-week.
Handing out such a lucrative contract to someone so young and who has made just 10 senior appearances for the club is a clear indication of how highly he’s thought of at Old Trafford.
Regarding the timescale of any such deal, the newspaper add a new deal is expected to be confirmed before the end of 2022.
As such, expect a piece of breaking news to emerge from Manchester United while the world’s attention is on Qatar.
