Man Utd, Tottenham ‘won’t stop calling’ as Barcelona stall on €45m deal; last-minute hijack on the cards

Vitor Roque of Athletico Paranaense celebrates scoring a goal

Vitor Roque of Athletico Paranaense celebrates scoring a goal

Man Utd and Tottenham have reportedly been given ‘fresh hope’ of signing Vitor Roque, despite Barcelona reaching a ‘pre-agreement’ with Athletico Paranaense.

The 18-year-old Brazilian striker is one of the most in-demand youngsters in the world and it has been widely reported that the Catalans have secured his signature.

Indeed, Barcelona have allegedly agreed on a fee of  €35m-€45m in bonuses with Paranaense. Roque is expected to sign a six-year contract, which will also include a €1bn release clause.

However, despite these reports, it’s claimed that Barca haven’t yet sent the documents required to finalise the deal. This is no real surprise, given the ongoing financial difficulties behind the scenes at the Spanish club.

But, this has caught the attention of Man Utd and Tottenham, who could now make a last-minute move for Roque. Also, Paris Saint-Germain still hold a concrete interest in him.

So far, the striker has made 66 appearances for Paranaense, scoring 22 goals and making nine assists in the process.

Roque’s performances have already earned him a call-up to the Brazil national team. And, he is tipped to become a superstar in the future.

Man Utd, Tottenham ‘willing to travel’ for Roque

Now, according to Spanish outlet Mundo DeportivoParanaense are ‘losing patience’ with Barcelona and have given them ‘a deadline of 24 hours’ to complete the deal for Roque.

If they fail to do so, the Brazilian club will ‘consider offers’ from other clubs. As a result, Man Utd, Tottenham and PSG could ‘take advantage’ and make a late bid for the striker.

In fact, Mundo Deportivo add that the three clubs ‘won’t stop calling’ Paranaense regarding Roque and are ‘willing to travel’ to negotiate terms for him.

Also, they would offer Roque ‘triple’ the wages Barcelona are offering. So, personal terms aren’t expected to be a problem.

It’s no secret that Erik ten Hag is looking to add a quality striker to his squad this summer. Although, Roque probably wouldn’t go straight into Man Utd’s starting XI, despite his excellent form in Brazil.

In terms of an instant starting option, Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund is the Red Devil’s primary target at the moment. But, that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t make a move for Roque too.

Tottenham, on the other hand, are in serious danger of losing Harry Kane either this summer or at the end of next season. So, bringing in a new, long-term centre-forward option could be a smart bit of business from them.

Therefore, if Barcelona fail to finalise their deal for Roque in the next 24 hours, you can expect the Premier League duo to make a bid for him.
