Man Utd transfers: Harry Maguire schedules Ten Hag showdown as Fabrizio Romano confirms Fulham want sellable midfielder
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed which two midfielders Man Utd will allow to leave if appropriate offers arrive this summer, while also revealing what the immediate future holds for Harry Maguire.
Man Utd are set to strengthen their midfield with the addition of Mason Mount from Chelsea. The England international has been undergoing a medical at Carrington on Monday. He is in line to become Erik ten Hag’s first signing of the summer.
Obviously, whenever a player arrives at a club for big money, it can have repercussions for some of the players already on their books. The addition of Mount for around £60m could spell bad news for some of Man Utd’s fringe options in midfield.
In theory, the likes of Fred, Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek could be questioning their own roles at the club going forward.
Now, transfer insider Romano has revealed Fred and Van de Beek in particular are up for sale at the right price.
Fred has already been linked with Fulham and Romano has confirmed they are one of many clubs keen on the Brazil international.
Speaking via his YouTube channel, Romano said: “While we’re on Man Utd, I understand that both Fred and Donny van de Beek could be on the move this summer. Manchester United are open to letting them go in case they receive good proposals, so talks will take place.
“Fulham’s interest in Fred is true but I’m told there are also more clubs who could be in the race.”

Romano provides Harry Maguire update
Further back in the Man Utd formation, another player who has fallen down the pecking order is Harry Maguire.
Despite remaining club captain, Maguire would not be one of the names on Ten Hag’s ideal first-choice teamsheet. Instead, the Dutch tactician prefers Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez.
Therefore, Maguire might be best off finding a new club. But whether he wants to leave Man Utd is another matter, which has clouded his future in uncertainty.
According to Romano, Maguire will hold talks with Ten Hag soon – even if the plan is somewhat overdue.
The Italian journalist added: “For Harry Maguire, my understanding is things are still less clear and that the player will speak to Erik ten Hag soon to clarify his situation.
“This has been the plan for a while, but this meeting still needs to happen, and after that we’ll see what decision all parties come to.”
Maguire remains under contract at Old Trafford until 2025, with the option of a further year.
