Man Utd urged to use Qatari millions to sign Arsenal pair in groundbreaking double deal and leave Barcelona man in the shade
Manchester United have been told they can sign two of the Premier League’s outstanding stars this season if a Qatari takeover goes through – with a pair of Arsenal talents within their grasp.
The Red Devils are enjoying something of a renaissance following Erik ten Hag’s appointment as coach. They are currently third in the Premier League, are into the last four of the FA Cup and the quarter-finals of the Europa League. And they already have silverware in the bag, having beaten Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final.
The groundwork for their excellent season was done in the summer months when a meticulous Ten Hag allowed several stars to depart. And coming through the Old Trafford doors were six new signings to the tune of £216m.
That summer influx was as much as any Manchester United manager had ever spent in a single transfer window.
However, all that could fade into insignificance this summer if a Qatari takeover goes through. Indeed, with the club now officially up for sale, the Glazers are looking to end their 19-year tenure by selling up for around £5bn.
Providing the latest on the situation, Fabrizio Romano has revealed two new offers are set to be launched for United.
However, it is the Qatari-led group who remain favourites to succeed. They have plans to further redevelop Old Trafford and increase the capacity once again, making the ground the biggest and best in the country.
In addition, they will reportedly provide Ten Hag with astronomical transfer funds to make the club serious challengers for the game’s biggest prizes.
As a result, Ten Hag is reportedly planning at least three new spectacular signings this summer.

Ten Hag told to avoid signing Frenkie de Jong
A new striker is very much in Ten Hag’s thinking and any such deal will likely set United back a new club-record fee.
They are also in the market for a new midfielder, with Frenkie de Jong once again strongly linked.
However, Stan Collymore reckons the club will be able to spend the type of money they’ve previously only been able to dream about. As a result, he says they need to forget about the Barcelona man.
“Manchester United shouldn’t pursue players that clearly don’t want to move to their club,” he told Caught Offside of De Jong.
“There’s an argument to suggest that Chelsea are finding this out the hard way with Mykhailo Mudryk. He blatantly wanted to join Arsenal before Chelsea offered a ridiculous contract.
“De Jong, every time he’s been asked about Manchester United has pretty much said ‘no thanks’. They should just leave him alone and move on to alternative targets.
“If Manchester United end up getting taken over by ridiculously wealthy owners, there is no reason why they couldn’t look past De Jong. They can go after the real big hitters who are destined to become the next global superstar. Jude Bellingham for example.
“I know he probably won’t end up at Old Trafford in the summer. But it’s that type of player is the kind I am talking about.”
Man Utd urged to spend big to land Arsenal duo
Collymore is adamant that United can sign any player in the world if their Qatari takeover goes through. And he reckons they should start by launching a mammoth double bid to prise away two men paramount to the Arsenal title push.
“De Jong is great, don’t get me wrong, but this is Manchester United we’re talking about. They can blow most teams out of the water now, let alone under potential Qatari ownership.
“If they get taken over, what’s stopping them going for Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard or Bukayo Saka in the summer? You’re not telling me Manchester United’s financial power wouldn’t at least make the Gunners, as well as the players themselves, stop and think.
“The point is though if De Jong doesn’t want the move, fine – leave him where he is and move on.
“United are big enough to find the next best, or an even better midfielder, if that’s the position Ten Hag is prioritising.”
Despite Collymore’s claims, there are surely no money United could put on the table that would convince Arsenal to sell.
And the Gunners are very much planning for the long-term with both players in their side. Indeed, Saka’s new deal at Arsenal is reportedly already agreed, and will be announced soon.
Meanwhile, Arsenal also hope to soon tie down captain Odegaard to a bumper new deal.
