Marco Asensio, Real Madrid, May 2022.

Manchester United are planning to offer Real Madrid star Marco Asensio a route out of the club, according to recent reports.

Asensio has been a regular performer for Real for much of his time at the club. Indeed, the Spaniard has notched 49 goals and provided 24 assists in his 235 appearances.

His role has been more consistent over the past few seasons, too. He made 35 league appearances two seasons ago, and 31 in the recently-concluded season.

What’s more, Asensio registered his highest goals tally in a season this campaign. He bagged 10 goals in the league, as well as two more in cup competition.

Despite seemingly being in good form, reports have stated that the 26-year-old could be set for a move away from Real.

There have been links with a move to the Premier League. Both Liverpool and Arsenal have been linked with a move Asensio recently.

Manchester United have also been touted for a move. Recent reports have stated that the Red Devils could offer Asensio a route out of Real.

While the Spaniard made 42 appearances this season, there is apparently a growing feeling that Real will move on without him as a key player.

With that being said, United could be in line for to make a move.

Mundo Deportivo, via Manchester Evening News claims the English side are in contact with his agent. The Red Devils have reportedly been offered ‘first refusal’ on Asensio this summer.

Asensio would be a good signing for United, if they were to pull it off. The 26-year-old is capable of playing in a number of positions, both in the midfield and out wide.

Versatility is a good asset to have, and United could certainly benefit from having a player who can be used in different positions.

Furthermore, Asensio is clearly a very good player. He has won three Champions League trophies while at Real, and has played a decent role in each of those triumphs.

What’s more, he has made 28 appearances for the Spanish national side, one of the better countries in international football during the last 15 years.

He could surely become one of United’s most crucial assets, after a making a move from big hitters Real. United could be inspired to a new era under Erik ten Hag, and Asensio could become one of the faces of the side.
