Marcus Rashford latest: Striker taking drastic steps to impress Ten Hag as Bayern Munich move for Man Utd star

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are reportedly keeping tabs on Marcus Rashford’s situation at Manchester United as they weigh up a surprise move for the England forward.

The Red Devils attacker, much like his club, had a woeful campaign scoring only five goals in 32 games in all competitions for a United side that finished with their worst ever points total in the Premier League.

That has led to talk of a potential exit, with Rashford’s situation now largely in Erik ten Hag’s hands.

The Dutchman officially took charge at Old Trafford this week and is expected to have a high turnover of players.

As many as 12 could be offloaded, including the likes of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial, Nemanja Matic, Alex Telles, Eric Bailly and Phil Jones.

Add Rashford into that mix and it will Ten Hag and the club’s recruitment team working overtime to bring in fresh faces.

Bayern are looking at the 24-year-old with one eye on winger Serge Gnabry’s situation.

The Germany international will be out of contract next summer and is showing signs he wants to stay. Indeed, a return to former club Arsenal has been mooted, along with links to Tottenham and Real Madrid.

Bayern are said to view Rashford as having a very similar skillset to Gnabry. Indeed, both can play as left-sided wingers who cut in onto their preferred right foot.

Rashford determined to impress Ten Hag

However, as reported in The Sun, it appears the United man is determined to show Ten Hag he is worth keeping.

Rashford is expected to undergo some intense warm-weather training in the US next month. Indeed, the attacker wants to get a head start in to impress his new Old Trafford boss.

The report states that Rashford will be put through his paces during a working holiday next month. The player is then set to return to Manchester for the start of pre-season training on June 27.

Rashford is also desperate to get back in favour with England boss Gareth Southgate. He has once again been left out of the Three Lions squad for the upcoming Nations Cup fixtures.

His last cap actually came back in July 2021 during the Euro 2020 final loss to Italy.
