Angry Mauricio Pochettino ‘ready to make’ big PSG decision as Man Utd talk enhances

Mauricio Pochettino Champions League presser with PSG

Talk of a departure for Mauricio Pochettino from PSG appears to be gathering pace amid a damning new report in the French media.

The 49-year-old has just ‘celebrated’ his one-year anniversary since his appointment at the Parisian giants. However, despite being 11 points clear in the Ligue 1 summit, all has not gone well for Pochettino in the French capital.

Indeed, they were pipped to the Ligue 1 crown last season by surprise winners Lille, while Manchester City overcame them in the Champions League.

Furthermore, they have also been dumped out this season’s French Cup, losing to Nice on penalties. And with a Champions League round-of-16 clash against Real Madrid looming, reports claim Pochettino could be axed were they to lose.

It all represents something of a tumultuous spell in charge of PSG for Pochettino. Furthermore, the Argentine has also had to contend with rumours aplenty over the future of Kylian Mbappe. That saga, though, finally appears to have reached a dramatic conclusion.

And there’s the small matter of keeping all the big egos in the PSG dressing room content. One of those players, Georginio Wijnaldum, recently spoke out about his discontent in Paris.

Now, according to Foot Mercato, Pochettino has reportedly ‘had enough’ of life in Paris. They claim he feels he has been forced to work in highly-testing conditions and feels the constant criticism of his management is wholly unfair.

Furthermore, failure to win the Champions League – regardless of mitigating circumstances – will be branded a failure.

They write that – regardless of PSG’s decision to replace him by the end of the season – Pochettino has decided anyway he will not stay beyond the summer.

And they claim he’s already told those around him that he wants to depart this summer.

Mauricio Pochettino feeling aggrieved

The situation appears to be a case of history repeating too – with Thomas Tuchel going public with his frustrations prior to his axing.

In addition, he feels aggrieved at seeing a deadline-day bid to reunite with Tanguy Ndombele blocked by those above him.

Pochettino to leave PSG this summer with Manchester United looming

Mauricio Pochettino will leave PSG this summer and Manchester United want the former Tottenham manager

Pochettino sought to re-sign the Frenchman once it became apparent he was departing Tottenham.

However, the Argentine’s appeals for Ndombele fell on dear ears, leaving Ndombele returning to former club Lyon.

As such, the article firmly expects Pochettino to take up the role of Manchester United manager this summer.

And it was reported on Wednesday how Pochettino’s axing at PSG will leave the Glazers quids in.

Zidane the favourite to step in at PSG

Meanwhile, Foot Mercato is pushing with their claims that Pochettino’s successor will be Zinedine Zidane.

The publication reported back in November that talks between PSG officials and Zidane were already underway.

The former Real Madrid coach won the Champions League three season in succession at the Bernabeu. And they are reportedly hoping he has the magic touch at the Parc des Princes.

His appointment will reportedly be rubberstamped once Pochettino’s departure is official.

For now, Pochettino’s focus for the next four months and taking PSG as far as possible in the Champions League.
