Nottingham Forest ‘set to sign’ Man Utd attacker as Steve Cooper eyes double Red Devils raid

Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to sign Anthony Elanga from Manchester United this summer after agreeing £15m fee.

Erik ten Hag is set to sanction the exit of several players as he looks to fund his own transfer business. The winger is one player who has been deemed surplus to requirements by the manager.

Elanga has been linked with a departure from Old Trafford for some time. Everton, until recently, were thought to be the favourites to sign him.

However, Elanga has reportedly snubbed the Toffees as he isn’t convinced he would fit into Sean Dyche’s mainly defensive system.

Now, according to the Daily Mail, Nottingham Forest are ‘set to sign’ the 21-year-old permanently after agreeing a £15m fee with Man Utd.  They claim he will have his medical ‘in the coming days’

After struggling for minutes with the Red Devils, a move to the City Ground could be exactly what Elanga needs to kick on in his career.

Nottingham Forest eye double Man Utd raid

Elanga broke into the Man Utd first team in 2020. Since, he has made 55 appearances across all competitions, scoring four goals and making four assists.

As mentioned, he has found minutes hard to come by under Ten Hag. Since the arrival of Antony and Jadon Sancho, he has gradually fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

Last season, Elanga made 16 Premier League appearances. The vast majority of these saw him come off the bench, however, and he clearly isn’t in Ten Hag’s long-term plans.

The Sweden international will be hoping that he gets more opportunities to perform at Nottingham Forest.

Interestingly, the Tricky Trees have also ‘made an offer’ for another Man Utd star.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Forest have tabled a ‘loan deal proposal’ for goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

It was reported on Thursday that Cooper would prefer to re-sign Keylor Navas than Henderson this summer.

However, TEAMtalk understands that Man Utd think that Forest have used their reported interest in Navas as a tactic to negotiate a better deal for Henderson.

Forest have followed that up with loan talks and the Red Devils know they have no other option but to accept. This is because Henderson has no intention of being second choice at Old Trafford.

With that in mind, we may well see both Elanga and Henderson make a move to the City Ground in the near future.
