An official Man Utd bid for an Inter Milan ace is expected to arrive ‘this evening’, and will be immediately accepted if a certain figure is bid, per a top source.

The Red Devils are seeking new additions at goalkeeper, centre-half, central midfield and striker this summer. With a transfer fee totalling £60m agreed with Chelsea, Mason Mount will soon tick the central midfield box.

Elsewhere, United have been forced into exploring alternatives after seeing their main defensive target, Kim Min-jae, agree personal terms with Bayern Munich.

However, today’s update regards the goalkeeping position, with the end seemingly in sight for David de Gea and a world class replacement lined up.

De Gea, 32, recently accepted a United contract offer despite the terms stipulating his £375,000-a-week wages would be slashed.

However, United got cold feet and didn’t sign their own deal, instead opting to make a revised offer on ever lower terms.

De Gea didn’t put pen to paper on the second contract and his current deal expires at midnight tonight. A new contract now looks unlikely to be thrashed out given the latest update from Italy.

Indeed, the trusted Gianluca Di Marzio reported negotiations between Inter and Man Utd over the transfer of Andre Onana are ‘progressing quickly’.

United’s first official bid is ‘expected’ to arrive later today, and Inter appear willing to wrap up a speedy transfer if their target valuation is bid.

Di Marzio stated an offer worth €50m plus bonuses will be enough to make Inter sing. That tallies with the reporting of Fabrizio Romano on Thursday when claiming Inter would command “at least €50m/€55m”.

Romano subsequently confirmed talks between Man Utd and Onana’s camp are taking place right now.

Onana, 27, led all Champions League keepers in the clean sheets category (eight) last season. His mark of 6.8 also saw him top the goals prevented category ahead of Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois (5.9).

The Cameroon ace is also a known commodity to Ten Hag having shared time together at Ajax between 2017-22.

If Onana does move to Man Utd, it stands to reason De Gea will make way. It appears unlikely he’d be willing to accept a bench role after 12 years as a starter at Old Trafford.

De Gea is modern-day Man Utd icon having been named the club’s Player of the Year on four occasions.

However, his limitations in possession, combined with handling errors creeping into his game last season look set to be his downfall.
