Paul Pogba gives green light for new Man Utd contract, but on one ego-driven condition

Paul Pogba wants to renew his contract with Manchester United, but reportedly on one condition – that he is made the Premier League’s highest-paid player.
Pogba, who is currently sidelined with a thigh problem, is out of contract next summer at Old Trafford. The 28-year-old is free to negotiate a pre-contract with foreign clubs from January. Reports on Wednesday suggested the midfielder may not play again for United.
The thigh injury he picked up on international duty this week will keep him out of action for at least two months. And some of the tabloids claimed Pogba will not kick a ball for United again.
Talks are on hold and club officials and the player’s agent Mino Raiola are not on the best of terms. The Sun say Unitedcould freeze him out upon his return if he does not commit to the club.
But Pogba apparently wants to sign a new deal. L’Equipe reports that Pogba “has made no secret” of his desire to extend his stay with United.
However, it’s not as straight forward as that and with Raiola pulling the strings that will come as no surprise.
Pogba has made it “clear” that he will pen an extension, as long as he is made the highest-paid player at the club.

Has Paul Pogba already played his last game for Manchester United
Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba may well have played his last game for Manchester United thanks to an injury suffered in training with France that could keep him out until the new year, with more news on Kieran Trippier and Edinson Cavani.
He currently earns around £290,000 a week, but wants a deal that will trump Cristiano Ronaldo’s £480,000-a-week deal.
It’s not uncommon these days for representatives to insert “top-earner” clauses in contracts. It’s not thought that Pogba has a clause in his deal which guarantees him to be the club’s top earner. But he apparently wants to be top dog. And for that to happen he needs a deal to make him the Premier League’s top earner.

Cavani drops Ronaldo hint
Meanwhile, Edinson Cavani has hinted that he would like to be paired with Ronaldo in attack.
“It’s a pleasure not only for the fact that he’s a football star, but also for the fact that I see the way he has to handle the brilliance of that star that he has forged in his career,” he said, as quoted by ESPN.
“And to see the way he faces each training day by day is a sincere pleasure. He is one of the great players that I have played with and that arouses admiration in me.
“The important thing in the team is to complement each other. They have already seen us together and I think that beautiful and positive things have come out.
Cavani, 34, is currently sidelined with a tendon injury, but he is eyeing a partnership alongside Ronaldo.
“I’ve always said that the pitch is the one that speaks and one must be there to give the best, train every day to be 100 per cent.
“Hopefully we can continue to share moments on the pitch. And give victories to the fans of our team, Manchester United,” he added.
