Man Utd transfer news: Main Paulo Dybala suitors pull out to leave Red Devils in front

Paulo Dybala of Juventus

Manchester United have a great shot at landing Paulo Dybala on a free transfer after his main suitors reportedly pulled out of the race.

The forward is a free agent after his Juventus contract ran out recently. Dybala was hoping to remain in Turin but the club suddenly changed their contract offer, resulting in a parting of ways.

Manchester United are thought to be tracking the situation. With Cristiano Ronaldo requesting to leave, the Red Devils may need to sign a new attacker this summer.

Dybala clearly isn’t an exact replacement for Ronaldo, or on his level. But the Argentina international would still improve United’s threat, should they land him.

Inter Milan have been in pole position to sign Dybala in recent weeks. Their CEO, Giuseppe Marotta, said recently: “Dybala’s part of the free agent players available on the market – he is and he was one of the opportunities, but we’ve already completed our attack with very good players.”

Fabrizio Romano added to those comments by stating Inter have had an agreement in place with Dybala for a month.

But the move has never gone through, and it seems Inter are now pulling out of proceedings.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the Nerazzurri are no longer involved. And this could see Dybala end up at Old Trafford.

Di Marzio issues Paulo Dybala update

Here’s what Di Marzio said, via Sport Witness: “Inter pulled out, AC Milan and Roma are on the list, but will enter the race only if he decides to earn less. They haven’t bothered signing him yet.

“Manchester United, yes, if Ronaldo left, but they are looking for a number nine and if they get Dybala, they will have to change their playing style. But he’s on Manchester United’s list.”

Di Marzio adds that other clubs, including Sevilla, hold an interest in the 28-year-old. But he only wants to join a top club, which could rule them out.

The reporter also states that Inter are the only team to actually make an approach for Dybala. This means United need to begin talks if they truly want to sign him.

There are a few things to unpack here. It is a major boost for United that Inter are no longer chasing Dybala’s signature.

They were his most likely next destination, but the blue half of Milan is no longer an option.

However, there is one big reason why Dybala might not end up at United. Di Marzio claims the Red Devils will only move for him if Ronaldo leaves.

And with Erik ten Hag’s side vehemently denying Ronaldo will go, Dybala will not be needed as his replacement – putting the potential signing in doubt.

Meanwhile, United have made a third bid to sign Lisandro Martinez ahead of Arsenal, as per a report.
