Erling Haaland has reportedly told those close to him that a Premier League transfer – amid links with Manchester United – would prove perfect for his career.
The striker continues to enjoy blistering form for Borussia Dortmund, who he chose carefully. Indeed, he had the world at his feet after his astronomical rise at RB Salzburg in the final months of 2019.
He could have moved to Old Trafford, but he felt the move to Dortmund would serve him better.
Nevertheless, after hitting 70 goals in 68 games, transfer links with a move to England have not gone away.
United still reportedly have interest in Haaland. They have plugged a gap up top with Edinson Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo, but they may wish for a long-term striker signing.
Manchester City, meanwhile, lack a recognised centre-forward and tried to sign Harry Kane this summer.
According to AS, though, Haaland has let it slip that a move to the Premier League would be “perfect”.
As such, United and City are ‘alert’ about the chances of signing the Norwegian.
They are also on alert over his potential fee next summer. While he would have cost well over £100million this summer, Haaland reportedly has a release clause in his contract.
That £64million exit option activates next summer and signing the generational talent up for that much may prove a bargain.
Indeed, Haaland earned a nomination this year for the Ballon d’Or and he could well win it in the future.
AS adds that the allure of the Premier League has changed the landscape for Haaland regarding a potential move to Paris Saint-Germain.
PSG eyeing Haaland transfer
According to another report from Le10 Sport, though, PSG believe they could snap the striker up.
Kylian Mbappe made the shock revelation earlier this month that he wanted to leave the French capital this summer.
He is well into the final year of his contract and so his exit is now looking more likely.
If that happens, PSG will supposedly make Haaland their top transfer priority.
