Man Utd slackers given fierce warning they face brutal treatment by serious Erik ten Hag

Rafael van der Vaart says Erik ten Hag should not keep Manchester United waiting and says any players not buying into his philosophy risk being kicked out of Old Trafford.

United are reportedly on the verge of finally confirming Ajax boss Ten Hag as the man to succeed Ralf Rangnick. A number of reliable sources have claimed that the two parties have verbally agreed a contract.

Manchester United have been deliberating over a new manager for some time with both Ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino having interviews with United officials. The Telegraph also claimed that a mystery contender had also been spoken to by the Old Trafford hierarchy.

But Ten Hag is the man that United have put their support behind. And the man they believe can get the best out of the existing squad.

Many of the current squad have failed to fulfil their potential under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Rangnick. Whether that is due to a loss of form or lack of application remains to be seen.

But former Ajax and Tottenham attacker Van der Vaart says if anyone refuses to cooperate with the new Dutch boss then they face being kicked out.

Van der Vaart said on Ziggo Sport: “As a player you no longer have any arguments. Coaches have been sent away and they have a great squad, but they play really badly.

“It’s not always the coach’s fault. Now there will be a trainer who will be very clear.

“You can say: Ten Hag is not the big name in England. That may also be an advantage, because he is going to give his plan very clearly. If you don’t cooperate, you will likely be thrown out.”

Van der Vaart also feels Ten Hag is playing a risk game by keeping United waiting. He is yet to officially pen a deal at Old Trafford and the 39-year-old Van der Vaart says he should get a deal over the line.

“You read reports that he is keeping Manchester United waiting,” added Van der Vaart.

“If Ten Hag receives such an offer, he should not even think about it and go with that banana.

“That’s an impression. You have to stay a little humble. He is a great trainer, he did a great job at Ajax. But Manchester United or the big clubs, don’t let them wait.”
