Man Utd come to major decision over Dusan Vlahovic transfer but fresh twist could still be around the corner

Manchester United have reportedly come to a transfer decision over Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, although there could still be another twist in the tale yet.
Recent reports suggested that the Red Devils could still make a move for the Serbia forward before the January transfer deadline. However, striking a deal before next Tuesday always looked a long shot.
Indeed, the arrival of Wout Weghorst on loan from Burnley was always thought to be a stop-gap move until the summer.
And now the Daily Express has revealed, unsurprisingly, that Old Trafford chiefs have decided against trying to force through a move for Vlahovic this month.
A move for a winger still appears to make sense at this stage, if anything was to happen. However, Erik ten Hag is also well stocked in that department – especially if Jadon Sancho can return fairly soon.
The report adds that Ten Hag does not want his squad to be compromised in their chase for four trophies. To that end, it’s thought that the arrival of another attacker was always on the cards.
However, with the club in the midst of a potential takeover, the likelihood of any permanent arrivals still appears unlikely.
It was reported over the weekend that Vlahovic is keen on a move to United. To that end, a summer switch now looks the likeliest option.
The 22-year-old only moved to Juve last January after having a stellar time at Fiorentina.
But his time in Turin has proved to be up and down. And the Express adds that his stock has fallen slightly as a result.
Serbian hotshot still valued at £70m
Vlahovic, who has been linked with Arsenal, is currently valued at £70million by Transfermrkt, having cost Juventus a similar fee last January.
He has scored 16 goals in 36 games for the Turin giants, which isn’t disastrous by any stretch. However, he was more prolific in Florence, after making his breakthrough in 2019-20.
Juventus are currently a club in turmoil, having been docked 15 points for transfer irregularities. But despite that it’s not thought that they are under pressure to cash in on Vlahovic.
Although in all honesty, given United’s takeover status, a delayed transfer is probably a good thing right now.
Vlahovic is not the only forward on Ten Hag’s radar though. Tthe likes of Harry Kane, Benjamin Sesko, Victor Osimhen and Borja Iglesias continue to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are back in action on Saturday night when they host Reading in the FA Cup.
