Man Utd takeover: Sheikh Jassim readying enormous move for PSG superstar that’ll excite fans

The first piece of business Sheikh Jassim will attempt, should he succeed in buying Manchester United, is to snare Neymar, according to a report.

The Glazer family have sought buyers for United for five months. There have been multiple suitors, with some plotting offers in different capacities.

Indeed, some want to buy the club outright, while others are prepared to take a percentage stake.

One of the most high-profile bidders is Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani. The businessman has, at the time of writing, had two offers rejected, as they came in below the £6billion the Glazers are looking for.

Despite that, Sheikh Jassim has looked one of the most likely buyers of anyone, alongside Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The INEOS CEO has also bid to take full control of the Manchester side.

It’s as yet unclear whether either party will undertake another attempt at buying the club in a third round of bidding.

It seems there could well be significant investment if either do, though.

Indeed, Sheikh Jassim seemingly already has a plan in place for his first piece of business should he secure control of United, and it’s a big one.

Sheikh Jassim wants to sign Neymar

The Sun reports ‘one of his first actions’ would be to make a move for Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar.

That would certainly be a big statement of intent from the potential new owner. A huge move like that would show how serious Sheikh Jassim is about investing in the club.

Indeed, it’s likely that signing would cost quite a lot of money. Neymar has been directly involved in 195 goals in his 177 games at PSG – better than one per game.

What’s more, the Brazilian – who was subject to a £198million move from Barcelona – is under contract until 2025, so the French side could demand a good chunk of that.

With reports of late suggesting they are ‘actively looking to cash in’ it seems if a side can afford him, a move could well be on the cards.

Neymar to United a no-brainer

As such, if United can afford him after a takeover, they should do their all to do snare him.

It’s not difficult to see how they’d be a better side with one of the world’s best talents in their ranks. They’ve been looking for an attacking spark to tie everything together since Cristiano Ronaldo left the club.

They need look no further than Neymar to find that. While he operates out wide mostly, he’s played a good deal of football through the middle for various sides, and has done well in that role.

The partnership up top with Marcus Rashford would surely be a deadly one. Between them, they could rotate from out wide to the middle within a game to cause nightmares for defences.

What’s more, Neymar has scored almost 300 goals in his club career, along with 77 for Brazil. Should United sign him, they’ll become contenders for the Premier League title without a doubt.
