Man Utd told outstanding striker target will cost in excess of €90m in kick in the teeth for Ten Hag

Eintracht Frankfurt CEO Axel Hallmann insists that Manchester United and Bayern Munich attacking target Randal Kolo Muani will cost more than €90million in the current transfer market.

The France international has enjoyed a breakout campaign for both club and country, scoring 21 goals in all competitions for Frankfurt and also shining for his country and they were beaten in the World Cup final by Argentina.

The 24-year-old’s performances have, understandably, caught the eye of top clubs around Europe. Indeed, United, Napoli, Barcelona, Newcastle, Atletico Madrid, PSG and Bayern have all been monitoring Muani in recent months.

At this stage, it appears that Bayern are the favourites to strike a deal for the player as they still eye a replacement Robert Lewandowski, who quit the club for Barcelona last summer.

It also appears that the Bundesliga giants have taken a step back in their interest for Tottenham’s Harry Kane in preference for the much younger Frenchman.

Bayern have not used a natural No.9 all season, opting to either play Sadio Mane out of position or use former Stoke forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting instead.

As for United, Erik ten Hag has already gone on record to state that the Red Devils will sign a new central striker this summer.

The Dutchman allowed Cristiano Ronaldo to walk away from the club after the World Cup and has used a mixture of Wout Weghorst, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, when fit, through the middle since.

Ten Hag picking from trio of striker options

Kane remains an option for United, as does Napoli’s Victor Osimhen but recent reports suggest Ten Hag has settled on Muani as his first choice.

However, in light of United and Bayern’s interest in the striker, Eintracht chief Hellmann has quoted the huge transfer fee that would be required to sign him.

“Kolo Muani? When I look at the international market, I imagine a different number than €90m – more than this. He has a long-term deal. My absolutely ideal scenario would be that he stays with Eintracht,” Hellmann explained.

That statement backs up a recent report from 90min that suggest Frankfurt have no interest in selling their prized asset this summer.

It seems that whoever United eventually move for will cost a premium, it just remains to be seen whether the club are willing to splash out approaching £80m on a new frontman.

The Red Devils are back in action on Saturday when they host Wolves in the Premier League.
