Man Utd transfers: Ten Hag forced to reshuffle plans as Bundesliga assist king drops hint on future priority

Frankfurt and Napoli strikers Randal Kolo Muani and Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen speaks with Randal Kolo Muani after Napoli vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Randal Kolo Muani has made it clear he is in no hurry to leave Eintracht Frankfurt and the striker feels he still has unfinished business in the Bundesliga.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding campaign for Die Adler, bagging 23 goals and 17 assists from 45 games in all competitions. The France international missed out by just one goal on a share of the German top-flight’s Golden Boot, scoring 15 times in the league. And unsurprisingly, his exploits in front of goal have caught the eye of some of Europe’s big-hitters.

Manchester United and Real Madrid have been credited with an interest while Bayern Munich are also thought to be keen.

The man from the Paris suburbs was unable to propel his club into the top six, however, as they finished seventh behind Bayer Leverkusen on goal difference.

But the Deutsche Bank Park outfit still have a chance of playing European football next term. They square off with RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal final on Saturday in Berlin.

Whether or not the talented forward is still at the club in 2023-2024 only time will tell.

A report earlier this week confirmed United’s interest, suggesting talks have taken place between the relevant parties.

The one sticking point might be his price tag, with Frankfurt said to be looking for a fee in the region of €90m.

It remains to be seen whether the Old Trafford giants would be willing to part with that sum for the Frenchman.

Kolo Muani taking laid back approach

Kolo Muani made his name at Ligue 1 outfit Nantes, starting 69 top-flight games and scoring 21 goals across two seasons.

However, as his stats show, he is much more than just a goalscorer, with many assists also on his record.

But it is the desire to top the Bundesliga goals scoring charts that seems to be weighing on his mind.

And the former Boulogne loan star appears happy to ignore the hype and concentrate on his game.

“I’ve still a long-term contract here at Eintracht, there’s no rush,” he said, via Fabrizio Romano.

“That’s why there’s still a chance for me to stay and become Bundesliga’s golden boot here next season.”

Frankfurt are in a strong position when it comes to price negotiations as Kolo Muani is under contract until the summer of 2027.

There has even been talk that he might fetch as much as £100m. That would be a major outlay for any club, with Manchester United said to be in the market for two strikers.

Wout Weghorst will return to Burnley while Anthony Martial may well be heading out of Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag needs help for Marcus Rashford as the north-west giants look to close the gap to rivals Manchester City.

They will have an opportunity to get one over on Pep Guardiola’s men when the two sides clash in Saturday’s FA Cup final.

For United, victory would mean a domestic cup double. City have their own agenda, as a Wembley triumph would be the second leg of a possible treble.

Whatever happens, United are now an attractive proposition once again for any young players, with Champions League football secured for next season.
