Man Utd star facing brutal double rejection as most likely next club tell him they’re not interested

Harry Maguire and Wout Weghorst of Man Utd

A Manchester United player is facing an uncertain future as Erik ten Hag does not want him and neither do his most likely next team, according to a report.

Ten Hag is hoping to make more big changes to the Man Utd squad this summer. He could offload the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire, Scott McTominay and Anthony Elanga.

Selling the players who are not high up in Ten Hag’s thinking will help Man Utd afford some of their top targets. They are looking to bring in a top-class centre-forward ahead of next season.

Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen of Napoli are both on their shortlist. Although, either of those players will cost £100million or more.

The Man Utd boss is also keen to bring in a new central midfielder. He would love to finally take Frenkie de Jong to Old Trafford as he is a big fan of the Barcelona player. However, it is more likely Man Utd will engineer a permanent deal for loanee Marcel Sabitzer.

According to recent reports, Sabitzer’s fellow loanee Wout Weghorst is unlikely to remain in Manchester beyond the current campaign. While he has impressed Ten Hag with his hard-working nature, which has helped to get the best out of Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, his record of two goals in 22 appearances is simply not good enough for a Man Utd striker.

The Sun claim Besiktas are interested in re-signing Weghorst. He was on loan at the Turkish club for the first half of the season, before Man Utd reached an agreement with his parent club Burnley to take him to Old Trafford in January.

Football Insider now provide an update on the Dutchman’s situation, and it makes for worrying reading. After Man Utd decided against landing him on a permanent deal, Burnley have also decided they do not want Weghorst on their books beyond the summer.

Wout Weghorst rejected by parent club

Weghorst boasts Premier League experience, which could have been helpful for Burnley ahead of their immediate return to the top flight. Despite this, the Clarets have decided Weghorst does not fit the style of play Vincent Kompany wants to use.

As a result, they will put him up for sale once the summer transfer window gets underway.

Weghorst will be extremely disappointed about both Man Utd and Burnley rejecting him. He appears to be enjoying his time at Man Utd and will probably want to extend his spell in the Prem.

Instead, the 30-year-old may have to settle for a return to Besiktas. This is because they are one of the few clubs who are interested in signing him.

A move back to the Turkish Super Lig may not quite live up to Weghorst’s demands. However, he did enjoy a successful period at Besiktas earlier in the season, scoring nine goals in 18 outings.

Meanwhile, one source has confirmed Man Utd’s interest in capturing a Premier League talisman.
