Ruthless Ten Hag gets tough after ditching favourite from Man Utd starting XI to face Brentford

Man Utd quartet Wout Weghorst, Diogo Dalot, Antony and Lisandro Martinez

Wout Weghorst dropped to the bench for the first time since joining on loan as Manchester United prepare to host Brentford in the Premier League.

Erik ten Hag made one change from the team that performed so badly in the loss lost at Newcastle, with the 30-year-old striker replaced in the starting line-up by Jadon Sancho.

The bench also includes Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who is available after recvering from illness.

Weghorst, who remains without a Premier League goal for the club, was roundly criticised for his performance at St James’ Park. However, he was among a number of Red Devils stars who seemingly decided not to show up on Tyneside.

The Netherlands international missing out means Marcus Rashford is expected to play through the middle.

United will be looking to avenge the 4-0 hammering they suffered in west London back in August.

As for the Bees, they also made one change as Mads Roerslev replaced Aaron Hickey at right wing-back.
