Man Utd ‘serious’ about signing new Napoli star alongside Kim Min-jae as Ten Hag offers player huge salary
Centre-back Kim Min-jae is not the only Napoli star Manchester United hope to land this summer as they are also interested in one of his midfield team-mates, according to a report.
Originally, it looked like Victor Osimhen would be swapping Napoli for Man Utd in the upcoming transfer window. The Nigeria international had appeared on Erik ten Hag’s radar after netting 28 goals in just 35 appearances.
However, on Wednesday, it emerged Man Utd had decided against capturing Osimhen. Napoli are desperate to keep him and will therefore be extremely hard to negotiate a deal with.
Instead, Ten Hag has landed on Harry Kane as his main attacking target. And Osimhen’s Napoli pal Kim is now closing in on an Old Trafford move.
French source Foot Mercato claim Kim is ‘keen’ on joining Man Utd after Ten Hag ‘presented his project’ to the defender.
Liverpool ‘remain interested’ in Kim but are now braced for him going to their main rivals.
Kim could be followed to Man Utd by central midfielder Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa. As per Italian outlet Napoli Calcio Live, Man Utd are ‘serious’ about signing the Cameroon star.
Ten Hag has been on the lookout for a new midfielder ever since arriving in Manchester and it seems he has decided on Anguissa as the solution.
Man Utd want second Napoli ace
Anguissa has been ‘constantly monitored’ by Man Utd officials this season and it seems he has left them impressed. He has registered three goals and seven assists in 41 games, helping Napoli win their first Serie A crown in 33 years and also reach the Champions League quarter-finals.
Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis views Anguissa as a crucial part of the first team. Due to this, he will only sell the 27-year-old if a major offer comes in.
But Man Utd have the finances to trouble De Laurentiis with such a bid. The report does not mention exactly how much Man Utd will have to put on the table, though it will likely have to be more than his €40million (£35m) valuation on Transfermarkt.
Once Man Utd have reached an agreement over a transfer fee with Napoli, they will then get started on organising a contract for Anguissa. Ten Hag’s side have already drawn up plans to offer him a huge wage, the report claims, although once again there is no specific amount of money that is revealed.
Anguissa currently earns around €57,000 (£50k) a week in Naples. Therefore, it should be fairly easy for the Red Devils to double his salary to £100k per week and therefore convince him on a transfer.
Anguissa heading to Man Utd this summer would cap off an interesting career journey for the player. He has played for the likes of Stade Reims, Marseille and Villarreal before ending up at Napoli.
Anguissa has already had a spell in England too, having been on Fulham’s books between August 2018 and July 2022. After spending a season on loan at Napoli, his transfer there was made permanent last summer for €17.3m (£14.7m).
