Sources: Anthony Martial bucks the trend over Saudi Arabia move in strong message to Man Utd
TEAMtalk understands that Anthony Martial has told Manchester United that he does not want to leave the club this summer and he would not be keen on a move to Saudi Arabia.
The 27-year-old has emerged as a target for the Saudi Pro League during recent weeks and it is believed that United would consider a substantial offer for his services.
However, the Frenchman believes he can still play a role for United and with Erik Ten Hag starting him in the loss at Arsenal at the weekend, it’s clear he is not far from their first-team plans.
Martial was, however, hauled off at The Emirates and replaced by summer signing Rasmus Hojlund with just over 20 minutes to go. And the Dane arguably produced more of a threat in his cameo than the man he replaced.
Martial, in theory, could also sign a pre-contract with a foreign club in January as his current deal expires in 2024. However, United do have an option for another year, which they would have to take to prevent him doing that.
The former Monaco frontman has scored 88 goals for United in 301 games in all competitions but has not reached double figures in a season since the 2019-20 campaign.
He is also likely to return to bench duty when United are back in Premier League action after the international break against Brighton, with Hojlund having more time to build up his fitness and almost certainly pushing for a start.
