Sources: Man Utd open to offers for top midfielder but ‘will not force’ player out of Old Trafford door

Manchester United are open to offers for Fred this summer, but they will not force the Brazilian out of Old Trafford, TEAMtalk understands.
United are planning a summer rebuild ahead of next season and it is understood that they will not stand in Fred’s way if the Brazilian wants to quit the Red Devils.
Fred is entering the final year of his contract at Old Trafford and United are willing to cash-in on him this summer rather than risk allowing him to run down his contract.Sheikh Jassim facing rejection after Glazers intervention as Sir Jim Ratcliffe is savaged by former Arsenal star
United boss Erik ten Hag is an admirer of Fred, but he knows he needs to sell players to increase his transfer budget and make room in the squad for any new signings.
Fred has made 52 appearances in all competitions for United so far this season as he has played a key role in ten Hag’s first-team squad.
However, only 21 of those 52 appearances have been as a starter with Fred playing more of a back-up role in United’s midfield.
Fred set to become surplus to requirements
With United in the market for new midfield reinforcements this summer it could push Fred even further down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
Fred joined United from Shakhtar Donetsk in a deal worth £52million in 2018, but has come under fire from some fans for failing to live up to his hefty price-tag.
United are back in action on Saturday when they head to Bournemouth in the Premier League looking to fend off Liverpool’s late charge for a top-four spot.
The Red Devils are currently a point ahead of Jurgen Klopp’s fifth-placed side but have played a game less than their bitter rivals.
