Top Bayern Munich star tipped to be next Man Utd right-back admits move could eventually happen

Manchester United target Benjamin Pavard has admitted that he could see himself leaving Bayern Munich at some point in the future.
The experienced right-back joined the Bundesliga giants back in 2018 after helping France win the World Cup and has played more than 120 times for Bayern.
Pavard has won a Champions League and three Bundesliga titles during his time in Germany. However, rumours were rife over the summer that United were looking to strike a deal for the player.
Indeed, right-back was one of the positions that Erik ten Hag failed to upgrade despite his best efforts.
The Dutchman remains unconvinced by £50million signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka, leaving Diogo Dalot as first choice.
The Portuguese has, however, impressed during United‘s four-match winning run in the Premier League.
However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano named right-backs Sergino Dest and Thomas Meunier among a number of summer targets for the Red Devils.
Romano reels off list of United targets
He said: “Memphis Depay on a free transfer, Moises Caicedo was a player considered for the midfield as Rabiot was not joining, Leandro Paredes was discussed by Man United and PSG.
“PSG were looking for a solution for Paredes and Man United were looking for a different solution.
“Weston McKennie was a player offered to Man United, but they were interested in a different kind of player for the midfield.
“There were also for other positions. For the winger, because the Antony deal was on standby, [Yannick] Carrasco was offered on a permanent deal, not on loan. Christian Pulisic was discussed by Manchester United and Chelsea, but United tried for a loan and Chelsea had no intention of accepting that.
“Hirving Lozano was offered to Man United and they said no.
“Many other positions, for example the right-back. Sergino Dest was offered, it is also important to mention Thomas Meunier.
“He was offered but Borussia Dortmund had no intention to proceed.”
Pavard also on radar of Ten Hag
United also reportedly approached Bayern over Pavard but a potential deal for rejected.
However, it appears that a move could still happen in the future, judging by the defender’s comments.
Pavard’s current contract runs out in 2024, and if a new one is not agreed he admits it could be time to move on.
Indeed, the player admitted that he “had calls from different clubs” in the summer.
“I questioned myself. I had calls from different clubs with my agent,” Pavard told Telefoot.
“Afterwards, I had the Bayern coach with whom we spoke and with whom we have a good relationship.
“He made me understand that I was in his plans, that I was important for the team.
“Maybe one day I will go to one of these clubs, you never know what the future holds.
“I’m still at [under contract] at Bayern Munich [until 2024]. Afterwards, we have time to project ourselves.”
So for the time being, it looks like Dalot will be Ten Hag’s man going forward.
United are back in Premier League action on October 2, with the small matter of a Manchester derby to contend with.
