Man Utd takeover: Fabrizio Romano provides ‘crucial’ update on club sale with two new bids imminent

Fabrizio Romano has provided the latest information on the Manchester United takeover, with the club entering a ‘crucial’ phase amid new offers from two hopeful bidders.

The Glazers put Man Utd up for sale in November. The news was welcomed by Man Utd fans who have grown tired of the super wealthy family taking dividends out of the club, something no other Premier League owners do.

The Glazers, who also own American football side Tampa Bay Buccaneers, want around £5billion to sell Man Utd. A large part of this is down to how much Chelsea was sold for in May 2022.

A consortium led by American businessman Todd Boehly purchased Chelsea from Roman Abramovich for £4.25bn.

Britain’s wealthiest person, Sir Jim Ratcliffe, is rivalling a Qatari group led by Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani to buy the Red Devils.

Last week, the Daily Mail revealed how both Ratcliffe and the Qataris had put forward their projects to the Man Utd hierarchy.

Ratcliffe was also pictured walking around Old Trafford and the Carrington training base. He was visibly delighted as he is a Man Utd supporter.

During an interview with CaughtOffside, Romano has explained how Man Utd are heading into a very important period for the potential takeover, with two new offers close to being submitted.

Fabrizio Romano discusses Man Utd future

“New bids are expected soon from Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Qatari group, for sure they are both in the race at this stage,” the transfer guru said.

“The next few days will be crucial; details of this negotiation are still private as of now but there are going to be some crucial days/weeks coming.”

While the takeover talk rumbles on, Man Utd fans will be wondering what it means for manager Erik ten Hag and the senior squad.

Dutch analyst Chris Woerts has previously expressed concern Man Utd could sack Ten Hag if they are taken over by the Qatari group.

But as per the Daily Mirror, the tactician is safe regardless of whether the Qataris or Ratcliffe take control. In fact, both parties rate Ten Hag very highly and he would therefore be in line for a contract extension.

This will be music to the ears of the Man Utd faithful, who have been enjoying Ten Hag’s success on the pitch this season, as well as his exciting style of play.

In terms of the senior squad, either new owner would be able to pump significant money into the transfer kitty, just like Boehly has done at Stamford Bridge.

This could see Man Utd become serious contenders for world-class stars such as Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham. However, they will have to battle Real Madrid for either one of those signings.

It seems Man Utd fans should keep an eye out as the next few weeks will be integral to deciding which buyer is successful. But what is certain is that the Glazers want to leave, and that can only really be good news for the Man Utd fans who have protested again them so much.

Meanwhile, Tuesday’s Euro Paper Talk claims Man Utd are in talks over the capture of a Monaco ace.
