A Man Utd move Erik ten Hag is the driving force behind has received a triple boost, and a regular starter who’s under threat may actually receive a pay rise if forced out, per a report.

Man Utd moves for a new centre-half, Mason Mount and a starting striker are all wanted this summer. However, no less important is what happens between the sticks.

David de Gea is out of contract on June 30 and as things stand, a new contract does not appear likely.

The Evening Standard report De Gea does have an offer on the table. However, the terms put forward would see the 32-year-old Spaniard incur a sizeable pay cut.

De Gea currently pockets around £375,000-a-week. Per the Standard, he could be in line for a late-career pay bump if ditching Man Utd for the riches of Saudi Arabia.

The outlet state United are still awaiting the outcome of talks with De Gea before bidding for any new goalkeeper.

Despite clear limitations with his feet and errors with the gloves creeping into his game, De Gea kept more clean sheets (17) in the Premier League than any other stopper last season.

But Ten Hag’s desire to have a goalkeeper who is willing to adopt a higher starting position and is more comfortable in possession has been well documented. In that regard, there is little De Gea can do to satisfy those cravings at this late stage in his career.

As such, unnamed Saudi sides are reportedly willing to move for De Gea and offer him a ‘substantial pay rise’.

With Dean Henderson in talks to join Nottingham Forest outright, a new starting goalkeeper could soon be required.

Man Utd meet with Andre Onana agent

To that end, today’s Euro Paper Talk brought news of Man Utd holding a meeting with the agent of Andre Onana.

The 27-year-old Inter Milan ace is coming off the back of a truly superb campaign in which he led all Champions League keepers in the clean sheets category (eight) . His mark of 6.8 also saw him top the goals prevented category ahead of Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois (5.9).

Onana is a known commodity to Ten Hag through their time together at Ajax. Onana left Amsterdam to join Inter as a free agent last summer. However, the Cameroon superstar may yet be a one and done at the San Siro.

Gianluca Di Marzio reported Onana’s agent recently held talks with Man Utd directors. Di Marzio then claimed Inter hope to receive a bid of around €50m (approx. £43m) for Onana.

Whether United will bid that high remains to be seen. However, per La Gazzetta dello Sport, what is clear is a bid for Onana will be lodged before the month of June is out to ensure Man Utd know where they stand if De Gea does walk out.

Onana to United receives triple boost

Now, the Evening Standard add their take, reporting three pieces of wholly encouraging news for Man Utd.

Firstly, it’s claimed Chelsea – who themselves are seeking a new keeper with Edouard Mendy heading to Al Ahli – have pulled out of the race to sign Onana.

Secondly, Onana is labelled ‘ready to move to the Premier League’. Thirdly, Inter reportedly ‘won’t stand in his way should they receive a substantial fee’.

If Di Marzio is correct, the fee Inter are commanding is €50m. The ball is now in Man Utd’s court to bid that amount- assuming De Gea doesn’t spring a surprise and sign a last-gasp new contract first, of course.
