Man Utd are on the verge of completing a blockbuster deal for a lethal forward who’ll become their new top earner on £375,000-a-week, per multiple reports.

The Red Devils have endured a slow start to the summer window, with no major arrivals or exits barring those leaving as free agents thus far confirmed.

However, that’s not to say a series of high profile deals aren’t being worked on, with United expected to return with a raised bid for Mason Mount after seeing their opening £40m gambit rejected.

Running parallel to United’s ambitions to sign a new goalkeeper, centre-back, central midfielder and striker are contract talks for two of the finest players already at Old Trafford.

David de Gea and Marcus Rashford are both in discussions over new deals. According to both the Sun and Fabrizio Romano, Rashford is on the cusp of putting pen to paper.

Indeed, transfer guru Romano reported Man Utd are “on the verge” of reaching an agreement with Rashford.

A long-term proposal has been tabled and per the reporter, Rashford is “set to accept” it.

The 25-year-old was described as “very happy” with his current situation at United under Dutch boss Erik ten Hag.

The former Ajax manager ended United’s six-year trophy drought in his first season at the club when lifting the League Cup. Ten Hag also oversaw a return to the Champions League.

Rashford enjoyed his best season to date last year, notching 30 goals and 11 assists across all competitions. The England ace was near-unplayable after the World Cup break, bagging 22 of his 30 strikes from late-December onwards.

Rashford to become Man Utd’s top earner

It had long been speculated Rashford and De Gea would trade places as United’s highest earning player if and when they sign their respective deals.

De Gea is expected to incur a sizeable cut to his base salary if penning fresh terms. He currently earns £375,000-a-week which per the Sun, is the exact figure Rashford is in line to receive.

The newspaper stated Rashford will be bumped from his current £200,000-a-week wages to £375,000-a-week.
