Ten Hag ecstatic as Fiorentina agreement tees up Amrabat signing on stunning terms
Fiorentina have reached an agreement to sign their would-be replacement for Sofyan Amrabat, and the Serie A side are now willing to let the Moroccan join Manchester United on favourable terms for the Red Devils, per a top source.
Amrabat, 27, remains Erik ten Hag’s primary target for the engine room. The Fiorentina ace has another suitor in the form of Fulham, though Amrabat’s position is clear – he wants Manchester United.
Personal terms are already in place, with just a club-to-club agreement and a medical standing between Amrabat and Old Trafford.
Tonight’s 11pm deadline is another barrier, though according to Fabrizio Romano, Man Utd are extremely confident of getting the deal done.
Explaining why, the transfer guru detailed a series of positive updates on Friday, beginning with Fiorentina striking an agreement with Maxime Lopez.
The 25-year-old plies his trade for Sassuolo and has been lined up as Amrabat’s direct replacement. Per Romano the Lopez agreement is a “crucial step” that will unlock Amrabat’s move to Manchester.
Furthermore, Romano brought news of Fiorentina relaxing their stance on Amrabat’s exit type.
A permanent deal to the tune of roughly £30m had been expected, though Man Utd are well known to be working on a tight budget in the final stages of the window.
However, United might not need to sanction a permanent buy after all, with Romano reporting Fiorentina will now accept a loan switch.
The Italian side will demand a hefty loan fee as well as the inclusion of a buy option. However, the softened stance now means Man Utd can sign Amrabat without fear of falling foul of Financial Fair Play.
In a final positive update, Romano confirmed Amrabat has zero intention of joining any rival suitors, such as Fulham.
“No talks with Fulham,” tweeted Romano. “It’s only #MUFC in Amrabat’s mind.”
