Ten Hag to secure immediate yes from ‘most entertaining’ Man Utd target who ‘wants to leave’ Ajax

Man Utd manager Erik ten Hag

Man Utd have been tipped to win the race for Ajax attacker Mohammed Kudus purely because of the lure of manager Erik ten Hag.

Kudus has caught the attention of various Premier League clubs thanks to how he has stood out in an underperforming Ajax team recently. Last season, the attacking midfielder scored 18 goals from 42 appearances across all competitions.

It has led to interest from clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd. Any of the three suitors could have their reasons to be optimistic in their pursuit of the Ghana international.

There have been claims from trusted sources that Chelsea are close to agreeing personal terms with Kudus. However, Arsenal may be more appealing because of the lure of Champions League involvement.

Yet if anyone has a clear advantageous factor in their favour, it is fellow Champions League contenders Man Utd. Precisely, Kudus previously played under Ten Hag for Ajax, so they could reunite at Old Trafford.

According to Dutch football journalist Marcel van der Kraan, Kudus would accept a move to Man Utd as soon as Ten Hag came calling.

Van der Kraan told Sky Sports News: “Mohammed Kudus is a really interesting player as far as midfield/striker wise, he can play both.

“I think this is why he is on the rise and he’s on that list. He may not be the number one yet, but if any of the players we’ve just mentioned [such as Sofyan Amrabat] fail to come or if the talks break down, Kudus could be an ideal option.

“Quite significantly in this matter is that Kudus, who is in training camp with Ajax in south Germany near Munich, has made it clear to his club, ‘I want to leave’.

“Now, when does a player say he wants to leave? Usually when he’s got something else lined up. And he is very keen on a move to the Premier League, whether that would be a top club in London or in Manchester.

“But I think as soon as Ten Hag would knock on his door, he would go.”

Kudus could become ‘real asset’ for Man Utd

As for what kind of player Man Utd would be getting, they could expect an equal measure of entertainment and aggression in the final third.

Van der Kraan continued: “He’s been the most entertaining, most aggressive forward Ajax had last year.

“They didn’t have a great season, but he has been the only hope for the Ajax fans to rise the club again.

“We all know that since Ten Hag left and they had a very fruitful time before, he’s been absolutely brilliant for them. And I think this is why he would be absolutely a real asset for them.”

Kudus only has two years remaining on his contract with Ajax. Only time will tell what kind of offer could tempt them to sell the 22-year-old this summer.
