Ten Hag signings praised as report reveals which two Man Utd players influenced by new recruits

A report claims Erik ten Hag is already seeing an improvement in the likes of Scott McTominay and Raphael Varane due to his summer recruitment drive.

United appear to have turned the corner after a poor start to the campaign. And they will take on rivals Manchester City on Sunday sitting in sixth place in the Premier League table. That is courtesy of four straight top-flight wins after losing their opening two games.

It took the Red Devils a while to swell their ranks during the summer transfer window. But Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen eventually arrived to bolster the squad.

Martinez, Eriksen and Malacia have seen plenty of action while Casemiro and Antony have yet to make much of an impact. But The Telegraph suggests all five have played a part in the club’s upturn in fortunes.

McTominay and Varane have responded in a positive way to the new players’ arrival. And the duo have played their part in the Old Trafford outfit’s rise up the standings.

Martinez has replaced Harry Maguire at the heart of the rearguard. And the way the Argentina international bounced back from a tough start to his United career is said to have inspired Varane.

Neither Casemiro nor Anthony have been given much game time by Ten Hag so far this term. Their time will doubtless come but the pair have reportedly been influential behind the scenes.

The report adds that former Real Madrid ace Casemiro holds a ‘quiet authority’ among the squad due to his success in Spain.

The South American can boast five Champions League titles and three LaLiga crowns among his list of achievements. And that is enough for team-mates to take note when he speaks.

McTominay enjoys new lease of life

McTominay’s midfield partnership with Fred has been heavily criticised. And Eriksen has now joined the Scot in the centre of the park.

It was thought that he might be replaced by Casemiro but the 25-year-old has kept his place in the side. Erikson has license to play further up the pitch, with McTominay doing the hard yards in behind.

The Scotland international has had to up his level to stave off the competition. And he appears to have done just that.

BBC pundit Danny Murphy recently described him as ‘phenomenal’. But Casemiro is not the only new arrival that has had a positive impact on the squad.

Antony has yet to be given an opportunity. However, his presence in training has reportedly improved the intensity of the sessions.

Netherlands international Malacia has been praised for his professional attitude to training. The 23-year-old left-back reportedly has to be dragged off the training pitch such is his dedication to the cause.

Manchester United may have a long way to go before they are genuine title contenders once again. But, if the new recruits continue to influence the squad, then there is every chance of the 13-time champions making a splash once again.
