Ten Hag transfer plan crumbles as tactical concern prompts Man Utd forward to reject Everton exit route

Anthony Elanga and Jadon Sancho of Man Utd

Man Utd forward Anthony Elanga could leave the club this summer – but it will definitely not be to Everton, a report has revealed.

Elanga failed to score in 26 appearances for Man Utd last season, struggling to build on the promise he had previously shown when scoring four goals from his first 29 games for the club.

Far down Erik ten Hag’s pecking order for the Man Utd attack, there is a belief that Elanga may require some time away from the club on loan in order to get his development back on track.

In that regard, Everton have been exploring a move for the Sweden international recently. However, the latest from the Daily Mail suggests that Elanga has rejected the Toffees.

According to the report, Elanga is concerned about how he would fit into Sean Dyche’s tactics. Therefore, he has decided to pursue a different exit route.

It is actually claimed that Elanga has chosen who he wants to play for next, although the identity of his potential next club has not yet come to light.

For the time being, he will continue preparations for the new season with Man Utd, who have him under contract until 2026 with the option for a further year.

Man Utd could now consider Elanga sale

Therefore, time is on Man Utd’s side if they want to loan him out. That said, a permanent sale has not been ruled out yet, since any money the club would make by cashing in on the academy graduate would be classed as profit.

If Man Utd need to raise funds for their own signings and an appropriate offer comes in for Elanga, they might sacrifice him.

Any hopes Everton have had of adding him to their squad seem to have been extinguished, though. It remains to be seen if he will get a chance elsewhere in the Premier League or will have to settle somewhere further afield.

Still only 21 years old, Elanga is not a lost cause just yet. But regular gametime will be necessary for him to show what he could be capable of.

Since Ten Hag’s appointment as Man Utd manager last summer, Elanga has been given just five starts in the Premier League and is yet to complete 90 minutes of any cup game either.

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk can exclusively reveal another Man Utd exit is at risk of collapsing after Nottingham Forest revived their interest in Keylor Navas as an alternative to Dean Henderson.
