Top Man Utd star to completely snub mega offer from Saudi Arabia and extend Old Trafford stay

Man Utd stars Casemiro and David de Gea

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is reportedly ready to snub a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia to remain at Old Trafford.

The Spaniard is among a growing number of major stars being targeted by the mega-wealthy oil state as they look to grow their football empire, with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo already headlining there and Karim Benzema also on his way.

But De Gea is committed to spending at least the next two seasons at Old Trafford – even though manager Erik ten Hag has offered no assurances he will continue as his first choice.

The 32-year-old has already agreed terms on a new contract, which is awaiting approval from the Old Trafford board.

The extended deal will see De Gea take a pay-cut in return for a longer commitment.

A number of Premier League stars are currently being offered lucrative contracts to move to Saudi Arabia, with French midfielder N’Golo Kante understood to be getting in the region of £100million-a-year to quit Chelsea.

And while De Gea looks set to stay in Manchester, a number of players are expected to be shown the door by Ten Hag.

United ready to offload nine players

As many as nine could be sold, along with those leaving on free transfers like Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe.

Anthony Elanga, Dean Henderson, Alex Telles, Brandon Williams, Eric Bailly, Harry Maguire, Fred, Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial could all depart too.

That will lead to a major turnaround for Ten Hag as he looks to improve the overall quality of his squad for next season.

United will certainly need a stronger squad as they return to the Champions League and also look to compete at the top end of the Premier League again.

And keeping De Gea on board in terms of continuity will certainly help matters, although it appears that Ten Hag will look to bring in a new stopper to challenge the Spaniard and more than likely be his long-term successor.

Porto star Diogo Costa is very much on United’s radar in that regard and would cost around £65million.
