Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will aim to move on Eric Bailly, Brandon Williams and Donny van de Beek before the transfer window shuts, according to an insider – though Harry Maguire and Dean Henderson may end up being stuck at Old Trafford.

Man Utd have signed three new players so far this summer. They have brought in midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea, goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter and striker Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta. Ten Hag wants to further improve his midfield and defence too, with Sofyan Amrabat and Benjamin Pavard among the list of targets.

In terms of outgoings, Man Utd have allowed David de Gea, Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones to leave following the expiry of their contracts. The Red Devils have also sold Anthony Elanga, Alex Telles and Fred.

Man Utd still have plenty of dead wood left in their senior squad though and Ten Hag is pushing hard to solve this issue.

The Manchester Evening News’ chief Man Utd reporter, Samuel Luckhurst, has provided an update on the situation. He states that Bailly, Williams and Van De Beek are the three players Ten Hag is particularly keen to offload before the window shuts on September 1.

Bailly is picking up interest from Saudi Arabian teams. Although, it is more likely he will sign for Besiktas next. According to Fabrizio Romano, the centre-back has agreed personal terms with Besiktas. The Turkish side must now finalise a deal with Man Utd.

Moving to Besiktas – who finished third in the Turkish Super Lig last season – would see Bailly feature alongside former Premier League players Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Daniel Amartey.

Williams, meanwhile, has been told it is ‘in his best interests’ to leave Man Utd and play regularly elsewhere as he is not in Ten Hag’s plans. The full-back has previously been linked with a move to Leeds United.

Midfielder Van De Beek has seen a move back to Ajax shut down by Fabrizio Romano. But a switch to Spanish outfit Real Sociedad remains a possibility as Van De Beek has already given that move the green light.

Sociedad have held talks with Man Utd over the transfer, which would likely be a loan with an option to buy in summer 2024.

English duo Maguire and Henderson have also been heavily tipped to find new clubs during the current transfer window. West Ham have agreed a £30m deal with Man Utd for Maguire.

However, the move has been held up and is now in serious doubt. According to The Guardian, Maguire to West Ham has now ‘collapsed’ as David Moyes’ side have become fed up with waiting for the defender to sort out an exit package with Man Utd.

Henderson is also risking a season warming the bench at Old Trafford. Nottingham Forest have held discussions to try and sign him following his loan spell in the East Midlands last campaign.

But following a calf injury to Onana’s deputy Tom Heaton, Ten Hag now wants Henderson to stay and provide backup for the new signing. This will infuriate Henderson as he wants to leave Man Utd and start afresh at a new team, but there is little he can do about Ten Hag’s decision as his Man Utd contract runs until June 2025.
