Transfer Gossip: No-nonsense Ronaldo plan of attack emerges for Man Utd exit talks; Chelsea push star to quit

Cristiano Ronaldo, Brighton v Man Utd May 2022

Cristiano Ronaldo has set out his stall ahead of crunch Manchester United talks, while Chelsea push a wantaway player to the exit door – both in all the latest Transfer Gossip.

RONALDO TO DEMAND MAN UTD EXIT

Cristiano Ronaldo will demand to leave Manchester United ‘immediately’ when he holds talks with Erik ten Hag this week, according to a report.

The 37-year-old returned to England on Monday after a trip to Lisbon in the off-season, citing family reasons. Meanwhile, new manager Erik ten Hag has worked with the rest of the group on pre-season tours to Singapore and Australia.

Ronaldo wants to leave United this summer because he wants Champions League football. The Red Devils, who finished sixth in the Premier League last season, can only offer the Europa League.

In response, Man Utd have consistently reiterated that he is not for sale. And Ten Hag has gone on record saying he wants the Portugal star to form a key part of his new-season plans.

The Sun notes the news on Monday evening of Ronaldo’s imminent arrival back in England.

But the newspaper now adds that Ronaldo will tell United he wants to quit ‘immediately’ and will not accept the offer of a new deal.

United have proposed a new route to try and appease their star forward. They could send him out on loan next season on the proviso that he signs a new deal at Old Trafford.

But Ronaldo will reportedly reject any notion of staying with United past this summer’s transfer window.

Jorge Mendes optimistic about Ronaldo to Atletico Madrid

Jorge Mendes optimistic about Ronaldo to Atletico Madrid

Jorge Mendes is optimistic about Cristiano Ronaldo sealing a move to Atletico Madrid this summer.

Nevertheless, an exit route is proving hard to come by. Chelsea and Bayern Munich have distanced themselves from a raid.

Atletico Madrid, meanwhile, deem a move financially unfeasible.

Ronaldo top-scored for United last season with 24 goals in 38 games. In his pre-season absence, Anthony Martial has found a new lease of life and is in strong form ahead of the new campaign.

CHELSEA COULD SHIFT TIMO WERNER

Timo Werner could be one of a few headline-grabbing Chelsea departures this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The striker has struggled for form following his 2020 move from RB Leipzig, bar a few decent goalscoring runs.

He caught the eye last week when he claimed he should play more. In response, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel said he felt surprised any player with a Chelsea contract could feel such frustration.

However, the situation is an evolving one and transfer guru Romano claims that Werner could “really leave Chelsea this summer”.

The reporter claims that Juventus – who have also been linked with a move for Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino – have Werner on their transfer radar alongside Alvaro Morata.

Romano adds that Chelsea tried and failed to include the Germany international in players-plus-cash deals for Matthijs de Ligt and Nordi Mukiele.

Chelsea have further plans to spend this summer under their new Todd Boehly-led consortium of owners. But to do so, they are aware a cohort of players could leave – Werner being a prime example.

Moroccan winger Hakim Ziyech’s future is also in doubt after the arrival of Raheem Sterling from Manchester City.

TRANSFER GOSSIP – NEWCASTLE, EVERTON EYE BROJA

Armando Broja is reportedly back on the transfer radars of Newcastle and Everton as he pushes to leave Chelsea.

The Albanian striker wants to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, preferably on a permanent deal, after two successful loan spells away.

But Chelsea have been impressed with Broja’s progress at Vitesse Arnhem and Southampton. And with four years left on his contract, they feel they can get another loan deal done.

West Ham had bid over £30million for the 20-year-old, but to no avail. The Hammers subsequently turned their focus to Gianluca Scamacca in their striker hunt and the Sassuolo man is on the verge of completing his move to the London Stadium.

That means Broja is free to look at other suitors, with iNews claiming that Everton and Newcastle are both eyeing a swoop.

Newcastle reckon a loan deal would work and that may appeal to Chelsea.

Everton are looking to replace Richarlison, who has moved to Tottenham in a big-money deal.
