Transfer Gossip: Denzel Dumfries delivers Man Utd verdict to leave Conte with egg on his face

Manchester United have been given belief they can secure the signing of Tottenham target Denzel Dumfries, Leeds are nearing a £12.8m midfielder signing, while Monday’s Transfer Gossip claims a Liverpool man is set to break a near 60-year wait for a move.

DENZEL DUMFRIES FANCIES MAN UTD TRANSFER

Manchester United have been given hope they can secure the signing of Denzel Dumfries this summer.

The Red Devils were linked with the Inter Milan wing-back last week amid doubts over Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The £50m signing from Crystal Palace looks likely to be sold this summer following his struggle to impress at Old Trafford.

And with new boss Erik ten Hag looking to strength his right-back options, Dumfries has emerged as his top target.

The 26-year-old shaped his career at PSV Eindhoven before securing a bargain £11m move to Inter in summer 2021.

Dumfries impressed too at the San Siro, scoring five goals and adding four assists in 21 Serie A starts.

Now that form has seen a string of clubs alerted to him, with Manchester United and Tottenham among those keen.

And due to Inter’s financials issues, they are seemingly willing to sell the Dutchman for a fee of around £26m.

United are yet to make their move. However, the Daily Mail claims they are ready to push for his signature in the coming days.

Denzel Dumfries does not fancy Tottenham

And despite Tottenham being able to offer Dumfries Champions League football, it seems the player has no interest in a move there.

Indeed, as per the report, they claim Dumfries would rather stay at Inter Milan than join Spurs this summer. And that has left Antonio Conte with egg on his face, with the Italian also making the player his top right wing-back target.

As such, they state Dumfries only has eyes for Manchester United were he to leave Inter.

He reportedly believes he could quickly adapt in well at Old Trafford and they are his only option were Inter push for his sale.

Inter are also facing a battle to keep a number of their star names, with Milan Skriniar strongly linked with Chelsea.

But Dumfries could be first out the door with the playter now very much open to the move to play under Ten Hag.

LEEDS NEARING MARC ROCA TRANSFER

Leeds United are closing on the signing of Marc Roca, according to a plethora of sources.

Jesse Marsch is looking to increase his midfield options this summer, having seen Leeds badly hampered in that area this season. The Whites only avoided relegation on a dramatic final day – and efforts to ensure a repeat is already up and running.

Marc Roca, Bayern Munich, March 2022.

They have already secured two signings in Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen. Now a third in the form of Roca appears to be closing in.

The former Espanyol man has not had an easy time of things since leaving LaLiga for Bavaria. Indeed, he has made just 24 appearances in two seasons for Bayern.

And with competition getting even tougher in their midfield, Roca will move on this summer.

Leeds’ interest in the player first emerged last week.

As per Marca, the 25-year-old has now chosen to join Leeds over a potential return to LaLiga.

He will cost the Whites an initial £10m, with a further £2.8m in add-ons taking the deal to £12.8m.

His move to Leeds United, however, is not seen as the replacement for Kalvin Phillips.

Marsch and Co would seek another midfield signing in the summer were Phillips to be prised away.

LIVERPOOL SET LOWLY PRICE FOR ALEX OXLADE-CHAMBERLAIN

Liverpool are willing to sell Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain for just £10m this summer, according to The Sun.

The midfielder, 28, will be allowed to depart Anfield, having failed to command a regular shirt under Jurgen Klopp.

And with Liverpool closing on the club-record signing of Darwin Nunez, they will now look to recoup some money on player sales.

First out the door will likely be Sadio Mane, though Takumi Minamino will soon also depart.

However, Oxlade-Chamberlain also looks to be on the move.

And with just a year left on his deal, Liverpool’s bargain £10m price for the former Arsenal man will alert multiple takers.

The likes of Newcastle and West Ham are both being strongly linked with moves.

However, The Sun claims it is Manchester United who will now focus on his signing given the fee.

Transfers between the two clubs are a rarity with only eight players moving directly between the clubs over the years. The last one, Phil Chisnall, was in 1964.
