Transfer Gossip: Man Utd double deal tees up surprise sale to Everton; Tottenham transfer surges toward completion

Two potential Man Utd arrivals in the same position has prompted Everton to enquire over signing the player who’ll be frozen out, while a superb Tottenham transfer has advanced and Man City are primed to receive a £60m bid – all in Tuesday’s Transfer Gossip.

The Red Devils want two new goalkeepers this summer and if Erik ten Hag gets his wish, an Everton enquiry into signing a Man Utd back-up could succeed, per reprots.

David de Gea recently confirmed his Man Utd career had ended over the weekend. De Gea, 32, has departed as a free agent and with talks over a new deal going nowhere, the Spaniard will now explore his options elsewhere.

The player United want as his direct replacement is Andre Onana. United have twice bid for the Inter Milan and Cameroon ace. Their latest effort totalled €50m (£42.7m), but Inter are holding out for €60m (£52.25m).

However, Fabrizio Romano is among those to report a deal appears inevitable. Man Utd are primed to lodge a third bid, while Inter need to raise cash to put straight back into a move for Chelsea hitman, Romelu Lukaku.

However, varying sources have confirmed United intend to sign a second goalkeeper too. 20-year-old Urawa Red Diamonds stopper, Zion Suzuki, has been in United’s sights for six years.

Suzuki would represent an option for the future and develop his game while serving as back-up to Onana.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Sky Sports reporter, Dharmesh Sheth, said: “United aren’t stopping there [just Onana], they’re actually looking for a second goalkeeper as well – a number two.

“Zion Suzuki from Urawa Reds Diamonds is the one that they are exploring the possibility of a deal for.

“He’s a Japan international and has actually played for the senior team already, so not one but two goalkeepers potentially arriving at Old Trafford.”

With Suzuki potentially set to be the number two as Sheth stated, the writing will be on the wall for Dean Henderson who is wanted by Nottingham Forest.

Everton lodge Tom Heaton enquiry

However, Tom Heaton too could depart despite Ten Hag previously blocking an approach from newly-promoted Luton Town.

Indeed, the Mirror bring news of Everton lodging an enquiry into the signing of the 37-year-old.

Heaton is a known commodity to Everton boss Sean Dyche through their time together at Burnley. Jordan Pickford remains No 1, but Heaton would be in line for a promotion to No 2 at Goodison Park, rather than No 3 at Old Trafford.

Everton want an experienced back-up and few fit that billing better than Heaton. With Everton lodging an enquiry, the ball is now in Man Utd’s court.

Heaton’s deal in Manchester has one year to run, meaning a small transfer fee would be required.

It stands to reason Heaton won’t be going anywhere until Onana and Suzuki are signed. But if and when they do arrive, Heaton’s future could lay away from Old Trafford.

Spurs have taken a giant leap forward in their quest to sign a new centre-back after an agreement over the transfer fee was deemed “close”.

Tottenham are known to be holding discussions with both Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba at present.

Football London reported Spurs will ultimately choose between the two centre-backs when the time comes, as opposed to signing both.

However, if the latest update from Fabrizio Romano is anything to go by, it appears Van de Ven is their chosen man.

Indeed, the transfer guru tweeted Spurs are “advancing” in talks with Wolfsburg after a “really positive” round of discussions on Monday.

A total agreement between the two clubs regarding the transfer fee was described as “close”. Romano previously claimed earlier in July that personal terms would not be an issue.

Van de Ven, 22, is known for his blistering pace, though at 6ft 4in tall, can also hold his own in the air.

Reports in Germany recently claimed Wolfsburg now want close to £40m for their star defender. If that is true, it doesn’t appear to have dissuaded Spurs given Romano’s extremely encouraging update.

What’s more, it’s widely believed Bayer Leverkusen will command en even higher fee for Tapsoba anyway.

As such, all the signs are pointing towards Van de Ven being the man to transform Ange Postecoglou’s backline.

Man City have a huge decision to make after Al Hilal informed the club they’re ‘ready to pay €70m (approx. £60m) for the services of Bernardo Silva’, per a report.

Silva, 28, remains one of Pep Guardiola’s most trusted lieutenants. Indeed, the Portuguese is often tasked with playing on the right flank instead of Riyad Mahrez in the biggest games. Elsewhere, he’s second only to Kevin De Bruyne in pulling the strings in the final third at the Etihad.

However, Silva is repeatedly linked with leaving Man City each and every summer and per CBS Sports, a tempting offer will soon be lodged.

They claim Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal are ready to bid £60m for the playmaker. Despite his incredibly high standards, it’s an offer that may appeal to City given Silva is 28, only has two years on his contract and has previously expressed a desire to try a new challenge.

CBS add Al Hilal are prepared to sweeten the deal by offering an eye-watering salary of €50m per year over a three-year contract. That equates to roughly £820,000-a-week.

PSG and Barcelona also admire Silva, though it’s Al Hilal who are formalising their approach. From the player’s end, it’s claimed Silva is yet to make a decision on whether to jump ship to Saudi.
