Transfer Gossip: Man Utd to launch serious bid for £62m striker as Ten Hag settles on Ronaldo replacement; Newcastle to break transfer record to sign Napoli star

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic and Villarreal centre-back Pau Torres

Manchester United are ready to launch a concrete bid to sign a new striker in the coming days, Newcastle want to break their transfer record to sign a Napoli star, while Saturday’s Transfer Gossip claims Wolves are looking to sign a five-times Champions League winner.

DUSAN VLAHOVIC IS TOP MAN UTD TARGET

Manchester United will reportedly launch an official bid for Dusan Vlahovic in the coming days after making the Serb their No 1 target.

The Red Devils are in the market to sign a new forward, having parted ways with Cristiano Ronaldo recently. The veteran Portuguese star departs Old Trafford after having his contract torn up by mutual consent following his heavy criticism of the club.

Now a free agent, speculation over his next club continues to dominate column inches.

However, for Ten Hag it leaves a big hole in the United attack. And the Red Devils manager will reportedly have funds at his disposal to try and bring in a replacement.

Their interest in Cody Gakpo is well documented. The PSV star has enjoyed a sensational 18 months, banging in the goals at a regular rate for the Eredivisie side.

Now rated at around £45m, Gakpo can play across the frontline.

However, there remains doubts he can be the central striker Manchester United truly crave. To that end, United have been warned of five issues they may face by following through with his signing.

As such, reports from Italy claim Ten Hag is convinced that Vlahovic would be that perfect fit.

United offer for Vlahovic prepped

The 6ft 3in Serb moved to Juventus last January after departing Fiorentina. Costing £62m, he has done well in Turin, scoring 16 times in 36 appearances.

However, there remains doubts over his future with the Bianconeri and claims are growing he could be sold.

Now, as per il Corriere dello Sport, United are ready to make their move for Vlahovic.

And it is believed Juve will consider his sale if any club offers them their money back. Strong in the air and good on the ground, Ten Hag reportedly sees Vlahovic as the perfect focal point for their attack.

Now an official offer from United to Juventus is reportedly set to be lodged in the coming days with the striker seemingly becoming their one major signing of the January window.

United could though add a new right-back in Denzel Dumfries and could fund that deal by allowing a frustrated star to depart for Tottenham.

NEWCASTLE TARGET MOVE FOR KHVICHA KVARATSKHELIA

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will be Newcastle’s top target in January with an ambitious £50m bid reportedly imminent.

The Georgian winger has lit up the Champions League since moving to the Diego Maradona Stadium over the summer. Signing for a fee of just £8.5m, Kvaratskhelia has two goals and three assists from five outings in Europe’s premier competition.

The 21-year-old has also been a massive success in Serie A with Luciano Spalletti’s side eight points clear at the top. Operating on the left of their attack, his form has resulted in links with some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Indeed, a report last month claimed Jurgen Klopp was blown away by Kvaratskhelia’s form, and that a future bid could be on the offing.

The likes of Real Madrid and Tottenham are also reportedly on his trail too, with the pair also alerted by his magnificent displays.

However, The Times reports that Newcastle are ready to pip them all by launching a huge bid for his services in January.

And while Napoli will have no wish to sell, a giant £50m offer may yet twist their arm.

Magpies boss Eddie Howe is looking for more goals and width to his attack. And it seems that Kvaratskhelia is now their No 1 target.

They have also been linked with Leeds’ Jack Harrison. Rated at £35m, it seems the £15m more needed to potentially land Kvaratskhelia is now their preferred option.

WOLVES LOOKING TO SIGN ISCO

Wolves are hoping to bring in Isco in January amid claims he is up for sale at Sevilla.

The Spain star moved to the Andalusian club in the summer after nine seasons withb Real Madrid.

Signing on a free transfer, the 30-year-old playmaker was brought in on a deal to 2024.

However, the move to the Estadio Ramon Sanchez has not gone to plan. As such, after just 12 appearances, reports recently claimed Isco has already asked to leave.

Sevilla, who at one stage challenged Real Madrid for the title last season, have seen their form nosedive this season. And they went into the break for the World Cup, struggling down in 18th and facing a fight for survival.

Per reports in Spain, Wolves are one of those clubs looking to bring him in.

And Julen Lopetegui’s side are seeking to bring him to Molineux as they look to climb the league table.

However, they are not the only side keen on the five-times Champions League winner. Indeed, Juventus and Napoli are also reportedly keen.
