Transfer Gossip: Man Utd get desperate in striker hunt and chase two veterans; Wolves to smash transfer record with £42m deal

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Barcelona August 2022

Manchester United’s striker search is become frantic with two veterans now on their wanted list, while Wolves are set to smash their transfer record and Chelsea are close to another deal for a talented teenager, all in Transfer Gossip.

MAN UTD GO AFTER AUBAMEYANG

Manchester United are ready to go head-to-head with Premier League rivals Chelsea to sign of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, claims a report.

The former Arsenal striker, who left for Barcelona in January, is a target for United, according to The Sun.

United apparently pondered signing the 33-year-old in January, but they are now fully focused on trying to land the Gabon striker.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s actions have forced Erik ten Hag to look for an alternative up front and Aubameyang is the man he wants.

Ten Hag has always claimed he wanted Ronaldo to stay until now. The Times now report that Ten Hag” has shifted his stance” on Ronaldo’s request to leave Old Trafford.

United are now said to be open to selling the Portugal international in the transfer window.

And Ten Hag is now desperately looking for firepower.

Man Utd are said to be close to signing Matheus Cunha from Atletico Madrid, according to talkSPORT. But Aubameyang could also arrive at Old Trafford.

While, The Athletic report that Leicester striker Jamie Vardy is also on United’s wanted list.

Leicester though are reluctant to let the 36-year-old forward leave.

WOLVES TO SMASH TRANSFER RECORD

Matheus Nunes, Portugal, June 2022.

Wolves are poised to sign smash their transfer record after agreeing a deal worth €45m, plus €5m in add-ons for Portugal midfielder Matheus Nunes.

The £42m fee they will pay Sporting will surpass the £35m they paid for Fabio Silva last summer.

Both Liverpool and Manchester City have had Nunes on their radar, but Bruno Lage is close to securing the 23-year-old. The €50m fee represents the attacking midfielder’s buyout clause.

Liverpool stepped away from an official bid earlier this month.

The Times’ Liverpool expert Paul Joyce stated Liverpool “not pursing a deal”. Instead, they planned to offer Harvey Elliott a new long-term contract, which they subsequently did.

Nunes, who was born in Brazil, has been capped eight times by Portugal, scoring once. Personal terms are yet to be agreed between Wolves and Nunes.

The Guardian report that part of the add-on fee will be paid in case Wolves reach the Champions League.

CHELSEA CLOSE ON CASADEI

Chelsea are closing in on a £12m deal to sign Inter Milan midfielder Cesare Casadei.

That is the latest from The Guardian, who claim Nice are also chasing the 19-year-old. Chelsea though a pushing for a deal after seeing two bids rejected by the Serie A club.

The Blues are expected to be successful with a third offer of around £12m.

While Thomas Tuchel is focused on strengthening his first XI he has also not lost sight of plans for the future. And Casadei looks set to join 18-year-old goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina and Carney Chukwuemeka, also 18, who have recently arrived at Stamford Bridge.
