Paper Talk: Three to leave as Man Utd triple wages in bid for French midfielder

Manchester United are to bin off at least three stars this summer to make room for Christopher Nkunku, Aston Villa are looking to sign a former Liverpool midfielder, while Monday’s transfer gossip claims West Ham are chasing a Spain forward.
NKUNKU THE TOP SUMMER TARGET FOR MAN UTD
Manchester United are ready to go all out to sign Christopher Nkunku this summer, claims a report.
Ralf Rangnick will maintain a strong influence over the Red Devils’ summer dealings as he steps into an advisory role.
And his No 1 priority is to strengthen United’s midfield, which he sees as an area of weakness.
As such, reports recently have revealed United as having an interest in 24-year-old Nkunku.
The Frenchman was signed by Rangnick for his former RB Leipzig side in 2019.
And the attacking midfielder has been an absolute revelation since the move, nonemoreso than this season. Indeed, Nkunku has a staggering 25 goals and eight assists this season from his attacking midfield role.
And while Leipzig have €75m (£61.8m) asking price on his head, that is unlikely to deter United.

Manchester United chasing Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig
RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku has been linked with Manchester United following Ralf Rangnick’s interim appointment, with more updates on Denis Zakaria and Edinson Cavani.
In fact, the Daily Star claims United are willing to triple the wages of Nkunku to prove their offer is serious.
And with Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani and possibly now Cristiano Ronaldo leaving this summer, United do have room to bring in Nkunku.
VILLA CHASING GEORGINIO WIJNALDUM DEAL
Aston Villa are looking to bring Gini Wijnaldum back to the Premier League this summer from PSG.
The Netherlands captain moved to the French club last summer as a free agent upon the expiry of his deal at Anfield.
However, the move has not worked out as planned with Wijnaldum used in a variety of positions.
Indeed, he was strongly linked with a move to Arsenal back in January amid his unhappiness.
Now, as per The Sun, Villa boss Steven Gerrard is looking at a possible deal.
They state PSG are willing to sell the 31-year-old midfielder too.
As such, they have reportedly told Villa that they can secure his signing for £21m.
That’s a fee unlikely to deter Gerrard as he looks to bring in more fresh blood at Villa.
Gerrard is also chasing Brighton’s Yves Bissouma and is likely to have a £100m kitty at his disposal this summer.
WEST HAM CHASE DEULOFEU DEAL
West Ham are getting serious in their efforts to sign Gerard Deulofeu, according to reports in Italy.
The Spain forward – well known to English audiences after spells at Everton at Watford – plays for Udinese these days.
Now 27, Calciomercato claims David Moyes is prioritising a deal for the Spain forward.
They claim the Hammers have made a “concrete” approach to Udinese ahead of the summer window.
AC Milan are also keen – but it is the Hammers who apparently lead the way.
VALENCIA KEEN TO KEEP BRYAN GIL
Valencia are open to the idea of making Bryan Gil’s loan from Tottenham permanent this summer.
Gil only moved to Spurs from Sevilla in the summer of 2020 under Nuno Espirito Santo’s stewardship. But after current boss Antonio Conte performed his own evaluation of the squad, he allowed the attacker to leave.
Indeed, the 21-year-old was one of four Tottenham players to leave in January on a mix of permanent and loan deals. Conte labelled the transfer operations “very strange” but necessary because of “mistakes in the past”.
As such, Valencia have plans to extend his stay back in his native Spain. They also want to tie down fellow loanee Hugo Duro, who arrived last summer from Getafe. But following their negotiations with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and director of football Fabio Paratici, a permanent deal for Gil could prove difficult.
That said, Valencia remain keen and will continue to speak with Spurs in a bid to find some common ground.
